PESHAWAR: Consul General of Iran in Peshawar Hassan Darvishvand said that work on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project should be expedited as it would be beneficial for Pakistan to overcome gas and power outages along with unemployment in the country.
He expressed his views while talking to journalists at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday.
“Both the countries should avoid pressure from the US government and ensure timely completion of the project,” he said.
According to him, bilateral trade would be helpful in boosting the economy of both the countries.
However, he said that US presence in Afghanistan and Iraq was responsible for militancy and terrorism in South and Central Asia.
The envoy also linked establishment of durable peace in the region to stable-Afghanistan.

Why so much pyar from Irani side these days? anyways good for Pakistan and Iran.

Khan Sahib there is an expression in English Language:

" Misery loves company "

Need I say anymore ? :D

All jokes aside, I think Pakistan has a lot more in common with IRAN then some other Middle Eastern countries in terms of History and Culture, not to mention a common border and geography.

In how much time Pakistan will start getting the gas from Iran ?

Is there too much pressure by US and what is Pakistan's reaction ?

The US has threatened to slap sanctions against Pakistan. However, Pakistan's Foreign office is claiming that it is moving forward with Pipeline regardless of US threats. Let's see what happens.

I think there is massive Chinese support behind Pakistan-Iran growing economic ties and China is helping in taking this pipeline forward while remaining behind the scenes.

Pakistan can afford to take this risk as it is not alone. Its energy crisis puts a reasonable answer to US pressure.

If there is such an alliance in the making ( i.e. China-Iran-Pakistan ), it does make a helluva lot of sense for Pakistan.

We should have regional alliances which make a lot more sense than having alliances with far away countries like the US or Europe with whom we have a very little in common.

US does not seek Partners, it wants vessel States. We are too proud to be anyone's Slave. The late President Ayub Khan said it best through the title of his book " Friends , not Master's ". That says it all about Pakistani Psyche.

China is suitable for economic alliance but as far as political alliance is concerned, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, make perfect sense.

For Political alliance, I think Pakistan should increase its strategic ties with China and make more efforts to help out China as China has considerable influence over world's politics. China is also a Permanent Member which is a massive advantage Pakistan can always have.

USA wouldn't dare do anything against Pakistan until their evacuation from Afghanistan completes. This the limited window of opportunities in Pak-US relationship when USA would have to agree to and accept developments which it wouldn't accept otherwise. Handling of Gwadar port to China and signing of Iran Pakistan gas-pipelines are two examples to learn that aspect.

Economic ties with Iran carries a serious risk despite closeness of culture. One should learn lesson from Lebanon and Hezbollah.
We do not want to lose part of a country as a satellite state to Iranian facism.

The gas pipeline should transport gas - not ayatollah propoganda.

You my friend are a gem in a coal field :D

One question i fail to understand, why do Pakistani's keep jumping over 'alliances'. Whether its with China, or Iran, or Turkey or KSA or whatever.

You never hear Indians talking about any kind of alliances whatsoever. Infact you would most likely hear Indians saying we should shun any kind of alliance.

Why this constant need of alliances in Pakistan? Why does it take so much of Pakistani mindspace?

In the last friends of pakistan meeting how much did Iran contribute?
Lol
