The question is......Why a poor more worried about his/her CASTE/Religion than the most essential need of Life - Roti, Kapda, Makan & wifi?

......because they have all been promised all the good stuff many times, the only thing that has remained with them which the politicians haven't taken away is their caste.

Scholarships to the financially backward students should help.
Education is the basic right of everyone living in India, it is government's responsibility to ensure that every child gets minimum basic education. But for higher studies, government should come up with schemes to provide scholarships.
Let me remind you, it is will not be government's job to find them placement.
I'm sure we all know of atleast a few rich "backward caste" families. How prudent will it be to let such people avail the quotas?

Biharis are casteist, very, and it also became a Bihari vs Bahari thing for them.

Both Modi ji and Amit Shah are Gujjus. And lets face it, short of Godhra, the Gujjus are not really seen as a very ballsy people. Not in Bihar definitely.

We need to urbanise, urbanise, urbanise....... as long as we have a substantial number of people in villages, caste can never be sidelined. No matter how hard you try. They will bring their caste biases to the city too but time will grind down many of the biases because the city does not give you the luxury of holding on to caste rigidity, restricting it largely, if that, to marriage. Not an 100% solution but it is a start.

Not so simple. While a lot of OBC reservations are politically driven, reservations for the likes of the SC are difficult to argue against. It is not just about financial backwardness, you can't just erase 1000's of years of social oppression & deprivation overnight.
