Not wanting to be caught flat footed again India’s security agencies are planning the biggest ever anti-terror exercise in policing history to prove themselves that they are up to the task of securing India’s vulnerable coastline. TIMES NOW accesses exclusive details of the biggest security exercise ever that will lock-down the entire 3,370 km western coast of India from June 8 to 10 after intelligence inputs show that Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) is planning another Mumbai type terror attack in India.

The area covered includes Jakhau in Gujarat to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu including Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep. 48 hr exercise involves Indian Navy, Coast Guard, state coastal police and marine departments. For on the radar of the terrorists are vital energy and security installations like the Kandla and Mundhra ports in Gujarat, Jamnagar refinery, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Tarapur Atomic Power plant, Bombay High oil rigs and naval base in Karwar. The focus, now on the Western Coast since during 26/11 the terrorists took the sea route from Pakistan to Mumbai starting from Karachi via the south of Okha sailing on from Porbandar to Mumbai in an Indian fishing trawler called 'Kuber'.

NEW DELHI: For the second time since the government approved the new coastal security architecture after 26/11, warships, patrol boats, aircraft and personnel from Navy, Coast Guard, Customs, coastal police, ports and other agencies will take part in a large exercise on the western coast.

"The exercise, to be held from June 8 to 10, will validate steps being taken to boost the country's coastal security. It will be coordinated from the joint operations centre set up in Mumbai," said a senior official.

With the 26/11 terror attacks exposing gaping holes in India's coastal security plans, the government is now working on a major revamp of the architecture. Defence minister A K Antony, in fact, has asked all agencies concerned to "plug gaps" in coastal security within "a definite timeframe".

The agencies are also working to develop "coordinated arrangements" for the security of offshore platforms, vessel identification system, identity cards for fishermen and a major project to install a chain of coastal radars.

Under the new maritime security plan, Navy is now the "designated authority" responsible for overall maritime security, with both coastal and offshore security under its control.

The force will, of course, be assisted by Coast Guard, state marine police forces and other central and state agencies for the nation's coastal defence. Towards this end, both Navy and Coast Guard are going in for a major augmentation in their force-levels, manpower and intelligence apparatus.

Navy, for instance, is going to get a new specialised force, the Sagar Prahari Bal, which will have 1,000 personnel and 80 fast interception craft to protect naval assets and bases on the west and east coasts as well as the island territories.

Dont no how to tell ya pal but with a stroke of a pen without firing one bullet Chinese premier can crash the American economy.:china:

How exactly do you think China makes it's money? Where do you think China has all its reserves by the way? are you here just to spew nonsense or do you really have a point to make? if your goal was to 'patronize' the Chinese troll then you have performed wonderfully, I'm sure he's satisfied.

With regard to the subject at hand, great going, it seems the lessons from 26/11 are being taken to heart. This is exactly what we need, a proactive approach towards dealing with all threats to our national security.

To fight terrorism in homeland is very difficult, we here know that not by rumors.

Good luck.
