The government Tuesday evening decided to deploy personnel of Border Guard Bangladesh in the capital to avert any subversive activities over the verdict of Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah .
Talking to The Daily Star at 8:30pm, Mohsin Reza, public relations officer of BGB, said the paramilitary forces will be deployed at different strategic points of the city tonight.
"The BGB personnel will mainly patrol some important points. But the points are yet to be decided," he said.
He said the home ministry earlier in the day sent an order to the BGB in this regard.
Earlier in the day, International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced Mollah to life term imprisonment.
Sources at the BGB said primarily the paramilitary forces will be deployed in Bangladesh Secretariat, International Crimes Tribunal, Shahbagh and Moghbazar areas.
A highly-placed official of the BGB told The Daily Star the deployment is being done a limited scale, but the forces remain ready for deployment in bigger scale.
