I think USA is more transparent. The basis of my answer is the rumor that China's government blocked Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.

On topic: None can compare transparency like this or by pool until & unless citizen don't agree with and for such narrative, it is always to be asked to the residents. Nowadays I would trust the data come from China more than from the US for sure. Not sure it can be applied for all things in life and for all people in the world.

At least if it is as you say deemed "fake news" by the US government it is still allowed to be seen..versus being declared "fake news" by the Chinese government and completely blocked.
