Mexican Mangoes are atleast a light year behind Pakistani Mangoes:D

wow i never found Pakistani Mangoes in US, are they really sold in Canada?:what:

yeah, you can legally buy them here, but apparently they are illegal in US. Aljazeera even did a news report about it like a year ago. They showed an American Pakistani guy crossing the border into Canada and buying a box of Pakistani mangoes form the back of some guys cars. It was really funny.

Living in Canada the biggest thing I miss about Pakistan is the mango :(
The ones we get here are from Mexico and disgusting.
They have no flavor and can be really sour/bitter.
I don't even think of Mexican mangoes as "real" mangoes as they are smaller and only occasionally taste "right". Brazilian ones look O.K. but seem very bitter. The best American-grown mangoes I've had are ones grown in Florida but to my knowledge these are not yet exported outside the Sunshine State. :(

I never tasted a good mango in the US in my life.

If you get your hands on a Pakistani mango you will be doing yourself a favor.

Very illegal. I saw what happened to a guy in Miami airport who tried smuggling the fruit into the U.S. in pre-9/11 days: three officers surrounded him, each wielding a large dog. Eat it now, throw it away, or be arrested!

Have you tasted Florida's mangoes yet? I wonder how they compare to Pakistani ones.

Only Mexican a few times and it put me off enough to just wait till I travel to Pakistan.

I would assume it has to do with trading policies.
No, it's fear that untreated fruit taken into the U.S. might carry pests that will destroy America's own fruit crops, as happened to California when the medfly appeared in the late 1970s. Canada doesn't have to worry about bugs on Pakistani mangoes destroying their citrus crops; Florida and California do.

Pakistan and the U.S. do have an arrangement to sterilize Pakistani fruit for export to the U.S. but apparently this either makes the export uneconomical or is too much of a complication for Pakistani businessmen.
