Beijing orders state offices to replace foreign PCs and software

Linux is an open source OS.

Just like saying most of the physics theory are written by west and asian can't use it for other invention..

You can use it. But unless you go thru the code line by line, you cannot be sure it does not have a backdoor.

Also linux uses standard hash algorithms to store passwords. NSA is rumored to be able to break those.

Physics theory are not man made, computers are.

Have you audited your brain? Are you really that dumb? :azn:

Getting personal. Maybe I touched a nerve.

What does a thick skinned "dumb dumb" know about touching nerve? You, an angel from rapistan, might be having another delusional episode after inhaling that top rated toxic air of yours for too long:omghaha:

Too bad you think it's personal. Let's just say I've wasted 5 minutes of my time. Bye now.

More personal insults. Nothing on topic yet. I will respond to you when you learn some debating skills.

Lenovo PCs? Didn’t they buy an American company?

Yes, Lenovo was IBM's PCs and laptops division, x86 based.

Lenovo is the new name. They revived the Thinkpad line of laptops.

Later they acquired IBM's server line up as well. X86 only, not power or their mainframe business.

How is going to affect companies doing international trade??
International trade is already handled by Linux, not windows, more than 90% of world's stock exchanges run on Linux based platforms.

Isn't linux foreign.
Linux is not owned by any nation or state or company. Anybody can use it and it's far more mission ready than any other operating system

There used to b a time when I was excited to upgrade to better PC hardware and OS. Now I'm tempted to give the middle finger to Microsoft who wants to own your PC thru Windows 10, and Intel who will refuse to support an older OS like Windows7 with their newer crap CPUs.

Looks like the brighter future is ARM CPUs running some flavor of Linux...

Seems to me more like a propaganda item, china has been making PCs/laptops for decades now , installing root level malware in commercial pc/laptops itself they are pretty adept at it now (more than once I have identified the same), they have been making servers and super computer with their own CPU albeit being a crappy one and if I am not wrong have been using Red Flag Linux/neokylin for almost a decade now in Govt offices along winblows.

Corporate level yes they do use microshit stuff, nutshell although FT is a reputed one but don't buy into this story more than superficially. It requires monumental effort to shift from one OS totally to another OS, the considerations with a population base of china are simply mind boggling, a decade or so may be but don't count on it happening immediately.

Yes, arm64 is very promising.

Also a cpu based on AMD's rizen arch is manufactured in a Chinese company. Anyways, the Chinese can fill the gap if they really want.

Intel is fast and advanced, but the underlying arch is flawed inherently.

Is this decision made to reduce cost or is it for security from back doors.

If it is to reduce cost, the cost of training people to shift operating systems to a lot more than the cost of operating system.

If it is for security, they cannot rely on Linux. Even the Linux kernel is contributed from multiple sources. Who know how many of those contributors were NSA agents or Russian agents , Chinese agents , Indian agents or Pakistani agents.

Well your points are valid but Linux is future proof, to say the least. Anyone can scrutinize it, if you don't trust a piece of code, strip it out, recompile and enjoy your cut down, safe version of Linux.

Linux holds the future of mankind :)

Long term China will benefit from this. I knew this day would come when Trump started fighting with Huawei. It's a great way to keep your state safe, by taking it off western tech. Everything can be compromised.

It is the evil nexus of these software/hardware companies, they covertly cooperate with each other to make more money by bringing new BS software versions and new hardware that will only work with the newly released BS software versions, this has been their strategy to take the money out of the pockets of the poor people of the world. Microsoft hasn't become a "trillion dollar" company on the stock exchange in the last 3 or 4 years by doubling its "capitalization", these are the tactics used by these sh1tty companies by forcing consumers to change their systems from the "perfectly normal" windows 7 to the crappy/sh1tty windows 10 developed in the land of gangus the india by substandard programmers.

Working in the industry here. What you say is very close to truth.

It is a long food chain with retail buyers at the very end. Big co is ready for any kind of fraud to deny you using stuff your rightfully bought. Their idea world is where you buy something from them, but still not really own it, and they can "pull the plug" any time on you, and make you pay again, again, and again.

And the whole industry is based on companies "pulling the plug" on one another. Small time developers have their SDK/platforms obsoleted, bigger players are always pushed by platform players to update so their own users are forced to update their underlying software/hardware, then platform players themselves are being bitchslapped by hardware makers, forcing them to force their users to update.

And lastly there are semiconductor companies who are true kings of the hill, but they prefer to sit quietly to not to alert anti-trust organs. Their ways are way more sneaky and subtle. They can manipulate the market, playing kingmakers without anybody, even C-level people at Google or Microsoft noticing by just shifting their presences who gets access to the new process tech first.

Wasn't Linux GNU have already overtaken Window base server OS in 2016?

Window and Apple only dominate Personal Computer by a wide margin, but I think commercial base system are dominated by Android/GNU Linux base system for quite a while now.

It over took windows server market in terms of public facing sites some 15-20 years ago I think.
