In amazing place at about 2.01 minute, that island is in Lugu lake Yunnan where women are dominant and hold the keys and the purse. I stayed on this island with them for a week in mid 90s.
The women stay in their own rooms on upper floors.
Pigs and cows and donkeys and men not invited to be with women stay on ground floor. I got invitations as well.
My travelling companion and tutor in Chinese and me stayed on 1st floor as paying guest of 5RMB a night. My tutor refused me to accept invitations from the sweet Lugu ladies who invited me to stay with them. She not only my tutor, she was my luo tuo (chinese for camel) as she got to carry my luggage in many trips all over China to many places such terracotta army, ChingCheng Shan, 3 Gorges, EmeiShan, Lijiang, HuaShan , Tibet and Lhasa , KweiLin Yangshuo and outside China as well.
I paid for her Masters in UK in early 2000.
She now a multi millionare in Guangzhou (or billionare)
Main roads in Yunnan , from Lijiang to Lugu Hu consisted of 1 lane up and 1 lane down and potholed.🏔
