US Air Force Takes The Veil Off Beast Of Kandahar

By Ranjan Bhaduri
Dec.09, (THAINDIAN NEWS) For the first time US Air Force has confirmed that its arsenal contains an advanced stealth aircraft called ‘Beast of Kandahar‘. The images of the unmanned drone appeared in the Internet sometimes ago. Before Tuesday, the Air Force kept it garbed in secrecy. It has been developed by eminent aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin and according to the US Air Force, the stealth aircraft is meant for giving surveillance support and reconnaissance to augment the ground forces.

The Drone got the name ‘Beast Of Kandahar’ after its photographs got leaked. The photos showed the aircraft flying in the sky of southern Afghanistan. That was almost two years back. It is similar to the famous B-2 bomber in terms of looks. The state of the art stealth aircraft is a brain child of Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs, a facility that is involved in implementing top secret US defense projects. It is the entity that is credited with making security marvels like the F-22 fighter jet,F-117 Nighthawk as well as U-2 spy plane.

The presence of the drone in a nation like Afghanistan has prompted the war experts to question USA’s intention all the more closely. As everyone knows, the militants and insurgents in that country do not have enough surveillance equipment. Some people are looking at it as an indirect way of spying on the neighboring countries of Afghanistan. The US Air force has plans to increase the number of unmanned stealth aircrafts in future and the Beast of Kandahar is a prime example of the fact.

. . . .
what is the need of using stealth plane in Afghanistan? are they using it against Iran/Pakistan?

.
such an expensive tech against ak47 equiped goat hearders . No wonder the cost of this war has shoot up ....:P

You guys just totally missed the point, which is EXACTLY what the US wants people to do, people including other countries' military leaderships.

The point is that the future of combat (not civilian) aviation contains low observable and/or remotely piloted aircrafts. Do we care if the goat herders is armed with AK-47s or spears? Heck...No. But do we care if OUR military is proficient and experience with these precursors of the next generation of combat aviation? Heck...Yes. So by all means do laugh away. When our adversaries suddenly find themselves unable to determine where we are as their aircrafts goes down in flames, it will be US who will  last.

Latest technology is put to the test in the war zones and that is what being done here. Whether these super weapons will be able to change the fate of the occupation forces in Afghanistan, is yet to be seen. By putting into action all these latest toys, you are not misguiding anyone, rather provoking countries like Russia and China to accelerate work on similar technologies. I am positive that Chinese and Russians are active in Afghanistan, and observing these latest toys in action will give them amount of information impossible to achieve otherwise.

The insurgents are in no hurry, it is their land, their tactics are clear, hit and run, bleed your enemy, and make the war expensive for your adversary. From every day that passes by, it is clear that insurgents are achieving their objectives slowly but surely.

Let me try this again...THIS IS NOT ABOUT AFGHANISTAN. This is about creating a foundation for future combat aviation and Afghanistan just happened to be available. The current crop of UAV operators are writing the manuals for their descendants, who will have better technology and who will advance combat aviation to the next generation and so on. Harping about Afghanistan and laughing at US is a clear sign of shortsightedness.

These things are not their only for writing of the manuals for the next generations operators; they are as much there to help the occupation forces.

So, by your logic, if I can win a war in $100,000 then I should spent $1 Billion, just to make sure?

What can UAVs do against AKs armed Taliban fighters that manned aircrafts cannot do?

I have said it before elsewhere and I will repeat it...That a newly promoted general or admiral does not guarantee new thinking that will result in new tactics or strategies. But a new weapon system ALWAYS result in evolutionary and even revolutionary thinking. Like the machine gun or the jet engine or 'stealth'.

How do you know these things are not there for our benefits other than to drop bombs and shoot missiles? How do you know Afghanistan's terrain is ideal to train manned aircrafts on how to find low observable aircrafts that a future adversary may deploy against US? You do not. And the reason you and others did not think about these possibilities until now is because your countries do not have a history of technical and scientific innovations available for the military to adapt to turn into weapon systems and in turn foster new thinkings. That is not an insult but the truth.

That is YOUR shortsighted logic. Bust a nut laughing at US. We do encourage potential adversaries to underestimate US.

The US senate has passed a bill recently of the drones expansion to Balochistan. Kandahar is on the border with Balochistan (Chamman/Quetta) and the reason for this so called Beast being the stealth is; PAF/PA won't be able to shoot it down as Pakistan (more likely) would not allow these drones to be used against Pakistan in Balochistan. But US has to show their arrogance by breaking the international law in the form of Pakistan's sovereignty, hence declaring themselves the biggest terrorist nation of the world.

But remember,

there is always a Moses somewhere for every Pharaohs on the face of this earth.

As time tells

USA has always over estimated it self
1. In Vietnam
2. First phase of Afghan and Iraq wars (Bush time) like bring it on etc

People like me who don't like extremist at all and or not big fan of bulling do find hard to see US wining hearts and minds of people with that attitude

But

When USA learn t the ground reality and were no more bully, they did contact with same Sunnis fighter they were fighting with and made them their ally.

US has to stop under estimate others religion cultures and way of life. Be friends not masters
