What is the implication of An Epic battle caught on Video cam between Buffaloes and Lions ...for Indian defense ?

A lot ....if you can understand.

I could not resist myself posting this video !

Please watch ....how a pack of frigid buffaloes instigated by bewildered mother buffalo fight group of vicious lions and snatch Victory of Life from jaws of Death !

Most thrilling video I have ever watched ....

Battle at Kruger - YouTube

.
Most thrilling and nerve wrecking moments of battle....battle between life and death...battle between powerful and powerless ...battle between few and many .....battle between brave and braver and bravest .....where fate and fortune of young buffalo calf snatched by group of lions moves like pendulum ....back and forth ....

Soon there is third angle to this one sided fight when opportunistic crocodile joins to stake claim over flesh of of a young buffalo...who has hardly any chances of escape being torn between teeth of Lions and crocodile ....

and then pack of buffaloes lead by angry mother buffalo come back for sake of love to charge hungry and vicious lions and fight epic battle to save young one ....

Not only they fight together ....but they literally snatch victory from Jaws of death !

The Best military lesson you can learn by watching one video !!!

thanks ....I wish if everybody can enjoy this amazing video ....

We could be weak , dirty , black , powerless , inferior buffaloes ....and yet we can win against King and Lord , almighty , powerful Lions .....if we stay together and fight together for love of our life ....if we fight as valiantly as frigid buffaloes fought ....we can win against the most powerful aggressors !!!

a single buffalo is quite powerful animal... usually it takes 3 to 4 lioness to bring it down...
if a solitary lion tries to kill .. it will take a lot of time...and horn could be dangerous

Off course ...but natural instinct is to run away as they did in first instance ....what is interesting is why they regrouped and came back overcoming their instincts ...and despite their frigidity how they managed to fight !

I believe the buffalo who kicked lion in air ...must be mother buffalo....

Only mother's heart can contain such as immense courage ...and anger for that matter.

buffalos are tenacious fighters... their herds are arranged in such a way that weak ones are at center .. a lion faces a wall of horns which is why they only attack solitary ones..

buffalos usually regroup and charge... this is not the first time.

you should watch some more video about lion - buffalo warfare and tactics..

Thanks for clarification ....

Social behavior
Herd size is highly variable. The core of the herds is made up of related females, and their offspring, in an almost linear dominance hierarchy. The basic herds are surrounded by subherds of subordinate males, high-ranking males and females and old or invalid animals. The young males keep their distance from the dominant bull, who is recognizable by the thickness of his horns. During the dry season, males will split from the herd and form bachelor groups.[10] Two types of bachelor herds occur: ones made of males aged four to seven years and those of males 12 years or older.[11] During the wet season, the younger bulls rejoin a herd to mate with the females. They stay with them throughout the season to protect the calves.[12] Some older bulls cease to rejoin the herd, as they can no longer compete with the younger, more aggressive males. Males have a linear dominance hierarchy based on age and size. Since a buffalo is safer when a herd is larger, dominant bulls may rely on subordinate bulls and sometimes tolerate their copulation.[10]

Adult bulls will spar in play, dominance interactions or actual fights. A bull will approach another, lowing, with his horns down and wait for the other bull to do the same thing. When sparring, the bulls twist their horns from side to side.[13] If the sparring is for play, the bull may rub its opponent’s face and body during the sparring session. Actual fights are violent but rare and brief. Calves may also spar in play, but adult females rarely spar at all.

African buffaloes are notable for their apparent altruism. Females appear to exhibit some sort of “voting behavior”. During resting time, the females will stand up, shuffle around, and sit back down again. They will sit in the direction they think they should move. After an hour of more shuffling, the females will travel in the direction they decide. This decision is communal and not based on hierarchy or dominance.[14] When chased by predators, a herd will stick close together and make it hard for the predators to pick off one member. Calves are gathered in the middle. A buffalo herd will respond to the distress call of a captured member and try to rescue it.[13] A calf’s distress call will get the attention of not only the mother, but also the herd. Buffaloes will engage in mobbing behavior when fighting off predators. They have been recorded chasing lions up a tree and keeping them there for two hours, after the lions have killed a member of their group

The calf survived the attack by lions and crocodile ...and buffaloes came back on time and managed to save one of their member ...

You can very well see hesitation in some of the buffaloes during counterattack ...and yet they manage to overwhelm lions

In fact lions reaction totally shocked me ....they seemed sheepish contrary to their celebrated ' image' as fearless predators ....

Don't you think that this is still an amazing video ...even if we agree that it is part of normal social behavior on part of buffaloes to regroup and attack their aggressor ?

You should watch lion- hyena fights. I saw one vid where lion was walking around with a dead hyena's throat in its mouth dragging the carcass, epic.

Unreal man...

Buffalo is a powerful animal, but their "Achilles' heel" is their poor eyesight..they can barely spot anything beyond 30 meters..also,it is unusual that Lions took so much time to put down a baby buffalo..Hate to say this, but I'm quite sad as Lions couldn't put the buffalo down, cause,Lions aren't a great hunter..and as they missed this kill,it might take them another few days to find another kill..starvation is one of the main enemy of Lions, apart from disease..

Watched this video in National Geographic few years back. Death usually hangs over weak and cubs in African plain but definitely it was not the day for the lucky cub to leave this mother earth on that day. Amazing video indeed.

@Indo-guy .. lions are opportunistic predator like other carnivores...say tiger.. if they find a easier kill they will even steal from others..
Its makes sense as lot of energy is spent in chase and majority dont end in kill... you dont want to get hurt unnecessarily.
