Banning google years ago. The most farsighted decision made by Chinese government

Any country who can have conflict with the US, or potentially have in near future, either economically or militarily, should ban Google from now.

I hope Vietnam government should follow suit. We cannot, and should not depend on foreign suppliers and we are capable to develop the alternative.

What clueless ??? What has a French conglomerate to do with current U.S vs Huawei issue ??? If you are talking about Alstoms takeover by GE, again what that has to do with the topic under discussion ??? :o::o::o:

I can't force a cow to drink.

Incompletely irrelevant political spin alert. There is much you do not understand about War On Terror and its mechanisms; some of the worst scum on Earth were taken to task in those regions.

Now this discussion is about making lives better in which Google have a good hand.

LOL

WOT

LOL

Google have good hand in "making lives better"???
How deluded can one be.
In that case Google should donate all their profits and register the company under charity.

I personally also haven't understood why the world accepts the domination of US software giants like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Oracle, Facebook , Twitter etc. Relying solely on these software platforms is not without a risk in the long run, every country should encourage their local software developers to build customized software platforms for their own countries so that they don't have to rely on the these monopoly oriented US software giant companies.

So you just proved. Other than plain rhetoric you don't have any points. LOL

On topic, if U.S want to ban any foreign company its their wish, their country their rules. Moreover if they wish to take it to another level using their diplomatic and soft power clout, can anybody stop them??

If not why complain, while China themself practice such discriminatory business practices back home. Ever thought ?? :azn::azn::azn:

TBH, do you have a better option to the aforementioned companies and products?? :-)

Some of the responses here make me wonder about the IQ level of certain people.

Google Search = great for work
Google Analytics = great for work
Google Docs = great for work
Google Scholar = great for education
Google Maps = great for navigation
Google Playstore = lot of apps
Gmail = one of the best email platforms

Above are some of the services which come to mind instantly. I am sure there are additional services and uses. And many are for FREE.

There are replacements for all of them available on the net, it is just Google's monopoly that it forces everyone to use its own products through Gmail accounts and Android system on smart phones.

There is one thing I learn in life, NOTHING is free. There will be a point in life where you are so dependent on these FREE services that you are practically enslaved to it. Google is now virtually an evil Monopoly doing US bidding. Imagine you challenge US, the next day all Google services is disrupted in your country, by then you can only silently say WE ARE FUCKED. China is the only country ON EARTH free from this stranglehold.

Nobody is stopping you from your addiction to the Google monopoly.
Not everyone would want to have all their data controlled by Google, well known to be conniving with the US government.
My TV programs are free along with their advertisements which is also where GOOGLE get most of their revenue.
Unless you are NAIVE???

Yes, with China's National Intelligence Law, your data belongs to China. Looks like you got the better deal.

At least it is well known in China, unlike US the GREAT Hypocrite, Snowden knows best.
This move by Trump is great, no more pretense the EVIL extent the US is willing to go to maintain world hegemony.

Vietnam does not have a domestic market of more than 1 billion people, Vietnamese companies like Mobistar, Vinsmart... need international markets, so Google is a friendly companion.

So far, China has not introduced any artificial intelligence framework that does not depend on the core of US companies like Google or Facebook ... It's hard to imagine China's information technology without Badu or Tencent.

Nonsense!
We have no conflict with google, why ban it? Nobody is hindered to develop google clone. But that’s an impossible task. Google is a like a black hole, it sucks the world’s best coders.

1. Google is a private enterprise, and it is doing well because its products are competitive and/or matchless.

2. US Department of State did not force people to adopt Google. Refer back to point 1 above.

3. Google grants YOU decent level of control in regards to visibility of your personal information on the web; YOU can wipe your entire history clean if you want to.

4. To an outsider, whether applications in use are Chinese or American, potential vulnerabilities are a constant.

In fact, Chinese are notorious for hacking and/or cyber infiltrations. I have experienced this problem firsthand, and one of my cards is no longer accepted on Google consequently.

5. US have a beef with China due to trade-related considerations. Chinese leadership should sort out its problems with Trump administration at earliest.

6. Consumers should be FREE to choose among potential services. Governments should stay out of this matter.

Nobody is stopping you from your addiction to the Google monopoly.

See above.

Perhaps you need to dig into following.

1. Chinese espioniage programs.
2. Chinese hacking initiatives*.

*You are not safe even if you are on Western platforms such as VISA. Refer to point 4 above.

As for NSA, it can extract information from your unplugged hardware, let alone your access to WWW. Maybe consider moving to a cave?
