Bangladesh-UK Defence Dialogue soon: High Commissioner Muna Tasneem

My 2 paisa opinion:

Sheikh Mujib, started as a street political cadre, Good politician but 3rd class Ruler or administrator. After Bangladeshi independence every decision he took fuked up newborn Bangladesh. He killed democracy in Bangladesh and established fuked up autocratic rule.

Ziaur Rahman, commissioned military officer and decorated war veteran, 3rd class politician but good administrator. Tried to stabilize Bangladesh by killing destabilizing elements like commies etc. He reestablished democracy and multi party politics in Bangladesh.

HM Ershad, commissioned military officer, 3rd class politician but good administrator. He inherited a Bangladesh with some stability bought by Ziaur Rahman.

Current Bangladeshi economic success we are proud of was brainchild of M Saifur Rahman. But, this model is old and increasingly becoming outdated. We really need someone like him to manage our country. He spoke little, yet his works still talking for him...

Allowing 19 coups to fester, destroying BAF and establishing a disorganised, dysfunctional political party are not credentials of a "good administrator". Zia was terrible at governance. He did not deserve to be promoted past Major.
He was however a good visionary - he had great ambitions for BD but lacked the managerial skills to implement them.
Agree with the rest of your post.

--------------------------‐-------------
On a seperate note:
The truth is, despite all their faults both Khaleda and Hasina (Hasina >>>>> Khaelda) have been way superior administrators than their predecessors - people just do not want to acknowledge it because they are women.

Here is how I rate our leaders in terms of administrative capabilities:
Hasina >>>>>>> Khaleda > Ershad >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Zia > BB

Allowing 19 coups to fester
Surviving 18 of them itself was an achievement.
destroying BAF
Can you provide some research papers on that. I would love to read...
establishing a disorganised, dysfunctional political party
3rd class politician as I said. But, if we have a fair election BNP will return to power. They do have grassroot level supporter base...
Zia was terrible at governance
Without stability you can not govern. Zia tried to bring stability till his assassination...

He did not deserve to be promoted past Major.
He was a decorated war veteran sir. He had face value and acceptance among military personnels...
He was however a good visionary - he had great ambitions for BD but lacked the managerial skills to implement them.
Niyot matters alot...

Nope sir. They didn't inherited a chaotic Bangladesh. Bangladesh after HM Ershad was stable. They are nothing without exploiting popularity of Zia and Mujib.
people just do not want to acknowledge it because they are women.
And like most of the women billionaires, their fortune come from inheritance. They aren't selfmade...

.
More like Ershad than Zia.
BAL and BNP fans may hate to hear this but both BB and Zia whilst patriots were extremely incompetent as administrators.
Zia was not a politician. He was not seeking any political post. However, he being a military officer was an administrator from the beginning of his military career. BB was not. He was a street agitator.

Zia stabilized the country when BB created Rakkhi Bahini that killed at least 35,000 JASSAD (?) workers and during his time more than 300,000 people died of starvation.

He was unable to forge a good relationship with America to bring food from that country.

It was Zia who established deep political and military relationships with China as well as the political relationship with America.

It was BB time when BD people had to buy salt at 80 Taka per kg and his brother Sk. Nasser was the biggest smuggler of jute at that time destroying our jute industry. While Zia was not fond of nepotism.

Zia stabilized the prices of daily commodities including rice. He averted another famine that people saw during the BB time.

This is why Zia was killed by the Indian design.

@Destranator, well said! I used to be a fan of Ziaur Rahman too, because I was unaware of the history before.
Later I knew that it's Ziaur Rahman who almost destroyed the BAF!

However I rate Khaleda Zia as worst leader. As in her second term, she acted as the shield for her thief son , hence became the major cause of the terrible 2001-2006 regime.

Massive corruption has been started in Bangladesh from Khaleda regime.

Also autocracy started by her too, before she was taken down by BAL and other party after 15 February 1996 election.

So now I fill surprised by the crocodile tear for so called mother of democracy ( fake), by many intellectuals!

Bengali forget things easily!

Hasina >>>>>>> Khaleda > Ershad >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Zia > BB

However I would like to know your reason of putting Khaleda Zia ahead of Ershad and others. Please clarify!

Perhaps by yes/no vote as well that was a massive rigging in reality.

However 98.88% vote was yes , more than 2018 BAL election! But why do we like to overlook it?

The reality is , no election of Bangladesh was free from rigging; only 1991 and 1996 ( 12 June) wasn't massively rigged!

Because of Ziaur Rahman we can even talk about our 3rd class flawed Democracy. Sheikh Mujib tried to turn Bangladesh as a North Korea type entity...

Then why the killers of Sheikh Mujib didn't return democracy ?

They were supposed to return it. What was the obstacles? Since they killed the killer of democracy, shouldn't they free democracy from BAKSAL after Killing Sheikh Mujib?

BAKSAL wasn't any divine mandate that came from sky , so even after removing mujib from power, others can't abolish it and waited till any saviour come to power? Or should we consider that any deep politics was involved in it?

And if participatory election is the only key point, then I would say 2018 election was a very solid election. No one forced BNP to participate to the election. Now even BNP has elected members in the parliament, and they aren'teven thinking of resign. Still why we can't recognise it?

Finally my humble question is, do you credit Ziaur Rahman for restoration of such democracy?

Ask them.

You should conduct an interview with them.

I dont know, I dont care...

Great...
No one forced BNP to participate to the election. Now even BNP has elected members in the parliament, and they aren'teven thinking of resign.
And why should they resign? They dont have to prove the level of democracy to general public. General public already knows that.
Still why we can't recognise it?
Seems like you do.
Finally my humble question is, do you credit Ziaur Rahman for restoration of such democracy?
I credit Ziaur Rahman for returning Democracy and multi party politics to Bangladesh after Sheikh Mujib tried make Bangladesh a North Korean type autocratic state where general people's are slave of the ruling class.

You are a চোরের স্বাক্ষী বাটপার। Please ask America and the UN about many actions that they have taken recently and for many more actions that they will take in the immediate future.

Perhaps, you are not aware that our Army Chief of Staff has been called by the UN.

Do you think it is for a Tea Party And not to hear from him what he is going to do with his RAB and Police? Note that the UN may expel many BD peacekeepers from the UN peace missions?

Without a proper initiative by him and the gob, the UN will send a few hundred peacekeepers back to BD whose terms have expired, and they will not be replaced with another group from BD unless your Hasina Bibi takes proper action about the past RAB illegal activities.

However, Hasina Bibi herself is responsible for all these illegal acts. BD law enforcers were only following her standing orders.

.
You always mismatch truth with falsification and then keep on talking as if your false are the truth.

Not very different from the way Hasina bibi speaks. you are disgusting as you have no central theme but keep on blabbering by mixing truth wit false.
I'm aware sir @bluesky!

Perhaps you aren't aware of something. You may create a thread based on the if you wish!

Here they are actually talking about joy ,the son of Hasina. However I'm not going to comment on this as well, as I must wait for the statement of Hasina!

I'm not someone who will jump to conclusion just after watching one side statement.

But if it's true, it will be a disaster. Very simple people ( yet capable of using brain) like me will no longer support these specific people, if they really found guilty in such "Tender" issue!

Now my dearest sir, your message really isn't the answer of my question.

In short, my question was, if 2018 was massively rigged election, then yes/no vote was a massive rigged election too.

UN didn't take any action against Zia regime because the center of power was in Arabian sea that time.

So Pakistan was the target that time.

Now trust me sir, if Soviet still exist today , UN/USA would overlook all crimes of BAL.

So from the beginning I'm trying to say that USA did sanction only because they want a base for 7th fleet in the Bay if Bengal.

And for you beginning you are doing, "ত্যানা প্যাঁচানী" and trying to insist that I'm trying to protect Hasina! As if I'm really a part of Hasina regime and have the capability of doing so!

What a funny idea my dearest sir @bluesky !

Thanks and regards sir. :undecided:

@bluesky,
যারা মেসেজ পুরোটা না পড়ে আর না বুঝে যা মনে আসে তাই বলে, তাদের দিকে আমি বরাবরের মতই করুনার হাসি দেই!
