What's new

'Bangladesh territory won't be allowed for anti-India activities'

What's the problem with Indian media,I just don't get it.Why do they call Bangladesh only Bangla?Bangla is not a name of a country, but a name of a language.Plus there is no unified Bengal in place,so they can's term Bangladesh, "Bangla".Its the trend of every Indian news paper and news channels.

Its like writing,

"Hindi prepares for war against Urdu(Pakistan)"

totally agreed......but i think they use it as a short for bangladesh(just a wild guess).......and idune is also correct here, its insane to label a whole country terrorist, for some rotten-heads.........regards

Dear Leonblack,
You seem to have taken offence at things that you think are wrong and i respect your views.
I also request you to hear out my views (an indian's views).
Pragmatic reasons - Yes our historical linguistical developement has been intricately linked with our society and indians usually think of populations using linguistic references (People in Karnataka are kanada, people in Tamil Nadu are Tamil, I am a Garhwali from Uttarakhand and likewise), considering the fact that we have so many languages and dialects (unlike Bangladeshi people and to a lesser extent Pakistanis who are more or less liguistically homogenous). Even the current scheme of creation of new states is largely tried to be the linguistic (the logic being to enable poor people of India in the villages to communicate with their local government institutions, of which there are many, in a language that suits them and makes there life easy - idea being to remain tolerant to even linguistic minorities whatever be their religion. Remember we were not created based on religion).
Emotional reasons - I had my education in more than one schools and at most schools one of the songs that we used to sing at the top of our voices goes as follows
"MAZHAV NAHIN SIKHATA AAPIS MEIN BAIR RAKHNA;
'HINDI' HAI HUM WATAN HAI HINDUSTAN HAMARA"
(RELIGION DOESN'T TEACH US TO HAVE MUTUAL ANIMOSITY;
WE ARE "HINDIS" AND HINDUSTAN IS OUR COUNTRY."
Dr Sir IQBAL MOHAMMED
Yes Dr Sir Iqbal Mohammed (one of the benefits of living in a secular country is to be able to claim heritage for all the goodness coming from anywhere and whatever may or may not have been the motivations of respected Dr Sir Iqbal Mohammed, for me and most of my thinking classmates it was a tool for forging a strong and resilient India)

The fact that we have West Bengal as one of our states and they too are called Bangla people in does not mean we want to take over your country (with all due respect). It only means that we find it difficult and illogical to call them West Bangla!!!

If you have anything against, being called Bangla, please communicate this to your government and they can speak to our government and i am sure any instructions from our government will be followed in letter and spirit by our media. As for the common people of India this change cannot be guaranteed since we have a 10000 year plus history that has moulded our personalities and we cannot change ourselves for a foreigner especially since that foreigner takes offence at non-issues and uses a non issue to create unsubstantiated propaganda.

NOW I TOO HAVE MY GRIEVANCE
I also think your signoff is in very poor taste.
"I am "sick" of some people who thinks they have given our freedom. As if we were licking lollipops during that time."

Pls talk direct if you have to. What do you mean by "some people"?
Your inability to talk straight does show how "sick" you are. You are behaving like a bird brain saas/bahu in a stupid saas-bahu serial.

^Hey chill man.Leon's implied nothing he just criticized the media's use of words.Period.No need to go so ballistic. He said nothing about India taking over BD.

The fact that we have East Bengal as one of our states and they too are called Bangla people in does not mean we want to take over your country (with all due respect). It only means that we find it difficult and illogical to call them East Bangla!!!

err....what???

One or two bad apple who took shelter does not make country a terrorist one. It's people like you who fall for those media propaganda and use the term "terrorist country" make us bad in front of the world.

also, some of these outfits acted AGAINST us.Though they don't do as much damage as the student leagues of both AL and BNP.

However, this is bad for the country and it's image.Real bad.

and again....BANGLA territory???Bangla????No it really is weird.Using East Pakistan would have made more sense I guess [jk].

Advaita,

Bangla would be sensible if East and West Bengal formed one country as Bangladesh. and there were no other race of people living in the country.

But that is not the case.In addition,we have indigenous people who are not Bengali but they are Bangladeshi. So if anyone calls us Bangla, they are left out.And its not right. We all are Bangladeshi.

There can be a seperate thread just on this issue. Its a vast topic and an important one in Bangladesh.

I did not see what you initially wrote but thanks to HK-47 for clearing things up.And your apology is accepted.

Chill.

We know its insane, but people responsible for labelling will label regardless whether it is sane or insane. That's what I was saying. But a certain member here was trying to color it up and take it to another level. But let's just ignore his blabbering.

Indian media will be on top when it comes to labelling,Jako. Its unfortunate that they get chance because of some of these Fundi idiots hiding in Bangladesh.

If Bangladesh was rich and powerful like UAE,then they would not dare call us such. You know how many Kingpins live in Dubai.

As the old Bengali saying goes,

"Shokter vokto,noromer jom"

This part needs clarification as you are new here.

Some Indian members here were boasting that India gave us Independence.although we know it was a joint effort of Indian army and Bangladeshi Freedom fighters. They were undermining our FFs.They seriously needed some history lessons,as they were taught ultra-nationalist history in their school.

That's why I am sick of those Indians, but not all Indians.Because there are many Indians who acknowledge that without Freedom fighters, there would not be any Bangladesh. They accept that, because they know history.

So you see I am speaking directly to those people to whom it is directed.
Now the question is which type of Indian are you?

Star Online Report
Detective Branch (DB) of police yesterday arrested another leader of Lasker-e-Taiyeba in the capital.

At a press conference at its office this noon, the DB disclosed the arrest of Indian national Moulana Mohammad Monsur Ali alias Moulana Habibullah.

The police said they arrested Moulana Monsur at Madrasa-Tur-Rahmanat at Saodagarbari in the city's Dakkhin Khan area following information given by earlier detained Laskar-e-Taiyeba leader Indian national Mufti Obaidullah.

Moulana Monsur, who entered Bangladesh in 1995, was working as a teacher at the madrasa.

He is a permanent resident of Paddapukur village under Mamabhagina post office in Uttar Chabbish Pargana of India, the police said.

Moulana Monsur is the immediate boss of Mufti Obaidullah, who also entered Bangladesh the same year in 1995 immediately after his boss.

Mufti Obaidullah had been serving as a teacher of a madrasas in Shibchar of Madaripur district using his fake identity. Earlier he was a teacher of four other madrasas in Moulavibazar, Munshiganj, Jessore and Dhaka.

Now he is being quizzed under the Taskforce Intelligence cell after being taken on seven days' remand.

That's our national Anthem, though you are saying "no pun intended",I can see sarcasm written all over it.

Now here is one for you,
This was not written after 1971,but way before 1971(1906 to be precise).
It was adopted as our national anthem and I don't have any problem with that, but for that you can not term our country only "Bangla".Its Bangladesh.

Now as I said before,in Bangladesh we have many indigenous people who are not Bengali but are Bangladeshi. So when any one term us Bangla,it refers to Benglai people only and those people are left out.

I also said there could be a seperate thread just discussing this issue.Whether we are Bengali or Bangladeshi,is very important topic of discussion here in BD.It is also one of the ideological difference between our two main political parties.

It really does not make sense if you address us as Bangla, because the region of Bengal at this very moment is not unified.

I will not answer any further queries on this topic.

Great reply leon......we indians also face the same problem here when some members term my country as a 'hindu' state,or sometimes pagan or such sort of words to generalise us.......dont we have muslims, sikhs ,jews and people from other faiths in our country???...india has far more muslims than non-bengali bangladeshis in bangladesh.....so,isn't that hypocrisy from some members and often senior ones here???.......leon,hope you get my point.
