Bangladeshi naval forces detained 92 fishermen in 12 trawlers from Myanmar for illegal angling within Bangladeshi waters in the Bay of Bengal, a regional police official said on Wednesday.

Lieutenant Golam Kibria told Reuters the arrests were made on Tuesday night near Saint Martin island in the Cox’s Bazar district near the border with Myanmar some 450 km (280 miles) southeast of the capital Dhaka.

“We chased and detained them inside our country’s (waters) during a patrol of the Bay. They were handed over to police today,” Kibria told Reuters.

Navy arrests 92 Myanmar fishermen
CHITTAGONG, Dec 8, 2015 (BSS) - Bangladesh Navy today arrested 92 fishermen from Myanmar and seized 12 deep-sea fishing trawlers when the nationals of neighboring country catching fish illegally near to Saint Marin's island.

The Myanmar fishermen were arrested on the ground of illegal entrance of Bangladesh territory, a press release said here.

The navy also seized huge numbers of fishes and fishing nets from the trawlers. The approximate price of seized trawlers, fishes and nets is nearly Taka 10.80 crore, the release said.

Bangladesh Navy Ship Dhaleshwari challenged the trawlers when it was operating a regular patrol within the Bangladesh maritime boundary.

The Navy will handed over Myanmar fishermen and seized trawlers to Teknaf police station tomorrow for taking legal action, the release said.

I am actually impressed with their catch, those are some huge a$$ fishes.
 
The problem of detaining them is Myanmar won't protest, until Su kye gets into power and educate them bout equalities.
