Bangladesh in talks with US to buy Apaches and missiles

.
Will BD go for Bradley's IFVs, PAC-3 SAM, F-16s new/used, FFGs used ones??

. . . .
Some questions:
-why does BD need heavyweight attacks choppers?
-if AHs are needed why not the lighter 500 series, especially the 530s at 10mn$ a pop?
-if heavy is needed why exactly the AH 64 E at 85mn$ each?
-in a world of MI 28s,the new LCH,T 129 at 50%,40% and 75% cost of AH 64 E cost why the latter?
-you do know despite written contracts they can still screw you-ask the Pakistanis the story of their F 16s!?

It went for Maxxpro MRAPs recently (numbers unconfirmed). Heavier US armor is also not confirmed at this point.

IMHO we should be buying a few of these for the BGB Border Guards. Alongwith the ATGM's we are already buying for them.

.
Both of our neighbors operate heavy attack helicopter, one got Apache recently and you are asking why do we need need heavyweight attacks choppers? :what: We will get the what is best for us in affordable price from whatever option is available.

Apache is one of best and battle proven helicopter in the world. Indonesia paid $41 million for each of their Apache but total deal for eight helicopters worth $1.42 billion including four APG-78 Longbow fire control radar. Not sure what other thing cost it that much. Perhaps @Indos might provide some insight.

This is total equipment we bought in our Apache Deal:

The Government of Indonesia has requested a possible sale of 8 AH-64D APACHE Block III LONGBOW Attack Helicopters, 19 T-700-GE-701D Engines (16 installed and 3 spares), 9 Modernized Target Acquisition and Designation Sight/Modernized Pilot Night Vision Sensors, 4 AN/APG-78 Fire Control Radars (FCR) with Radar Electronics Units (Longbow Component), 4 AN/APR-48A Radar Frequency Interferometers, 10 AAR-
57(V) 3/5 Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS) with 5th Sensor and Improved Countermeasure Dispenser, 10 AN/AVR-2B Laser Detecting Sets, 10 AN/APR-39A(V)4 Radar Signal Detecting Sets, 24 Integrated Helmet and Display Sight Systems (IHDSS-21), 32 M299A1 HELLFIRE Missile Launchers, and 140 HELLFIRE AGM-114R3 Missiles. Also included are Identification Friend or Foe transponders, 30mm guns and ammunition, communication equipment, tools and test equipment, training devices, simulators, generators, transportation, wheeled vehicles, organizational equipment, spare and repair parts, support equipment, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics support. The estimated cost is $1.42 billion.

Are you facing insurgency or terror out fits? MRAPs are good for that, in regular border security for heavy protection Bradley's M-2 will be good for BD they have many variants of those also BD should go for F-16s new and used, Javelin ATGM and PAC-3 MSE are also good options for BD to have from US.

Don't know what lighter 500 or 530 series and LCH you are talking about. Mi-28 is heavy, less maneuverable and technologically inferior compared to Apache. Beside Mi-28 didn't perform well in Syria and US sanctions is also a factor here. T-129 is lighter, it uses American engine and USA blocked that supply when Turkey tried to sell T-129 to Pakistan.

Our military strategy is defensive. We are not gonna invade anyone. These attack helicopters won't be part of the first wave of attack/counter-attack. It's different than buying F-16.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you're friends with both India and Myanmar despite the recent Rohingya issue, fanned by the Anglo Zionists.

The US is supplying some 30 or so to the Afghans

Their FAC,Fly Away Cost is low 6 mn $ each. If you need a gunship why not the Indian LCH at 30 mn$? I notice you have excellent technical cooperation programs with India.

Don't be too sure with these yt vids! Most say the Havoc is excellent platform. If it were up to me based on the threat matrix, reliability and price I'd go for the Indian Rudra,a lite battle taxi at 15 mn$,the armed version of the Dhruv ,a light multimission, multirole utility chopper.

India is BDs primarily enemy. The savages of MM are periodic irritants.

BD is surrounded by two countries that are inherently inimical towards us and are also profoundly unstable riven as they are with insurgencies caused primarily by racism and religious chauvanism. Incase of india it is hindu supremacist groups and for the simian conglomerate the bamar buddhist supremist.

BD requires massive uplift in capacity to protect ourselves from these the fundamentally unstable entities.

BD military links with india is superficial. BD has never and will never buy anything of significance from india for obvious reasons. Current illigal and undemocratic goverment in BD is there due to india money and as such makes some noise about how BD and India are friends. On the ground that is not true. BD current illigal government are there by force and indian money and has to pay its masters through anti-bd polices. They however have tried to leave the forces alone as messing with them will lead to their swift removal.

Theocratic nation by nature is not tolerant be it islamic theocracy, Hindu theocracy, Christian theocracy or Buddhist theocracy.

India and Myanmar is currently run by religious nutjobs that's why racism is rampant in these nations. Same goes for theocratic Muslim nations where racism against non muslims and other Islamic sects, particularly Shias and Ahmaddiyas are quite common(I won't mention the names of the countries).

That's why I support separation of religion and government. Bangladesh did a good job in keeping out religious nutjobs from politics.

The Maxx MRAPs are for UN patrols in Africa (Mali, Central African Republic etc.). @shourov323 I don't know if they are going to be used anywhere else.

Bangladesh police and other law enforcement agencies also use smaller Turkish MRAPs like the Otokar. But we are talking US equipment.

IMHO tracked AFV's like the Bradleys are not as agile as wheeled AFV's/IFV's (although the modern tracked ones can literally turn on a dime). The trend in the US Army and USMC's are to develop more wheeled tanks than tracked.

I will tag @Manticore bhai for his comments - given he is one of the resident experts.

IMHO Wheeled AFV's/IFV's are more appropriate for urban warfare scenarios which is the future. They will also be a lot lighter on Bangladesh soft soil (provided 3+ axles are used) and also easier to maintain with common heavy truck type spares compared to tracked versions. Both types have their uses but the Bradley is way overkill as an IFV (too heavy and expensive) just for recon use. Like I said, MRAPs should ideally fill the gap between a wheeled armored IFV/AFV and truck-mounted infantry but IMHO Bradley is not appropriate for Bangladesh terrain.

So what should that wheeled armored IFV/AFV be from a US supply perspective? We need it to be small (around 12~13 tons), have solid core tires, appropriate for Bangladesh situation (amphibious capable), mounting a nice weapon like the 25mm bushmaster chain gun (or a 30mm cannon) and also use common truck parts and spares like the Detroit Diesel engine and an Allison transmission.

The answer is the amphibious LAV-25 used by the USMC.

Canada developed a similar AFV - LAV-III

Among smaller US-made wheeled armored IFV's/AFV's the USMC-specific LAV 25 is a superb amphibious recon vehicle which is battle proven (Gulf war etc.) and a gap filler in between MRAPs and a proper wheeled tank (surplus) like the LAV-600 (please see below). Both LAV-25 and LAV-600 will be available from US surplus stock soon and we should take advantage of these.

LAV-25 turret with M242 Bushmaster chain gun. ATGM-equipped and other utility variants are also in use. About 12~13 tons (more with armor of various types).

LAV-600 wheeled tank (mobile gun system) with rapid-firing 105 mm main cannon with a four-shot ready-rack system - about 20 tons. Probably the most agile wheeled tank in US inventory until the arrival of the M-1128.

The M1128 Stryker Mobile Gun System 105-mm Fire Support Vehicle is also used in US Army but I don't think this is available yet for export...too new. Also around 18 tons.

Well, friendly relation need to be maintained to for the sake of peace and economy. But that doesn't mean we don't have any problem. No matter how friendly BD wanna be, it's both neighbors are aggressive, hostile and great bullies. Check the maritime boundary dispute, insertion of St.Marin Island in Burmese map, Naf river conflict, Boraibari conflict, whining and crying of India media over Chinese submarine procurement and recent death of their BSF soldier by BGB, BGP leaders statement about invading BD. You will get the idea. These two are potential threat.

We don't buy any military hardware from India except the recent coastal surveillance system deal for BCG after their begging and crying. Hope we never will. What gave you the impression that we will buy a new unproven LCH from them? All the helicopter you mentioned are light, used for scout/recon, less armored and have less capacity and range etc. BD currently has the ability to afford the best attack helicopter. So NO!!
