Lately there had been quite hype given to Kashmir issue by Pakistan which prompted tit for tat response from India by highlighting Balochistan to counter Pakistan. Lets just forget past as both Pakistan and India keep conflicting each other's arguments regarding history of both issues. So we should analyze on ground realities of the both which wud not only represent present situation but also help in ascertain the future. I would not at all start with sentence that Kashmir is Internationally recognized dispute but wud straight away jump to present conditions.
Balochistan:
1: The main issue as raised by people, politicians and scholars regarding Balochistan was it depravity from getting its due share in royalty from minerals etc and not improving lives of people out there. It is not at all disputed that it did happen but it is being looked into and efforts are on foot to usher progress in the province. CPEC is one just example.
2: Neither (daily) mass protests against Pakistan are seen in the province nor majority of residents carry anti Pakistani sentiments.
3: Those who took arms against Pakistan are flocking back to surrender arms and shun violence in large numbers while stating that they had been misguided by people out there and have realized that now, though quite later on. Nonetheless there had never been protective amassing been seen from locals to help insurgents flee away.
4: Recent Insurgency has been fueld in the province by foreign powers and capture of serving military person as agent of India is one such example.
5: In any protest that has ever happened against Pakistan no one has raised an Indian flag, though India is concerned as main supporter of the anti Pakistani movement there.
6: Curfew is a word quite unheard here.
7: No mass graves are found.
8: Province is open to anyone visiting here, may it be UN or EU delegation, TI, AI, foreign media cells etc etc. None of them have ever been barred from working here.
9: Foreign investment from many countries is either already taking place or about to materialize in the province.
Indian Occupied Kashmir:
1: The main issue here in the call for right of self determination as being raised daily on the streets of IOK. Nonetheless area is yet to see any major development projects esp regarding welfare of residents, though lot had been committed by current GOI.
2: Almost daily mass protests against India is a norm there (Pakistan is directly blamed for that) and thousands turn in for the protests. Famous call in those protests is "Freedom".
3: Large number of locals are either taking up arms against India or having soft heart for those taking arms. Many operations against those taking arms against India have seen rising number of incidents where locals tried to confront LEAs in order to buy time and help flee away all those against whom operation was carried out.
4: Pakistan has been blamed for everything bad happening in IOK but not a single member of ISI has ever been captured here. Though likes of LeT, JeM, Hizb etc are believed to be operating here and ISI is blamed for supporting them (India had released a confessional video recently).
5: In almost all protests Pakistani Flag is always seen and many at times Indian flag has not been removed but its considered quite a dangerous thing for common man to raise Indian flag there. India blames Pakistan for funding such protests by awarding Rs 500 each for such acts.
6: Curfew is a general norm here.
7: Many mass graves were found here.
8: IOK has strict media regulation and either likes of AI or human right groups are banned or cases had been registered against them when they raised Human Right Violations here. Amnesty International was one of the latest victim here. Though UN observers are believed to be present there but recent call for sending fact finding mission to IOK was totally rejected by India, while Pakistan presented itself for any such mission in Azad Kashmir but asked for any such initiation to be for both part of Kashmir.
9: Foreign investment from many countries is almost totally absent here. India even objected any such investment by China in Azad Kashmir.
Conclusion:
Tit for tat responses by both Pakistan and India only harms the region. Rather than only resorting to black and cruel laws in respective areas, people's lives shud be made focused on. This increases chances of shunning violence by people and prevailing good atmosphere only encourages unity and discourages calls for independence. Balochistan and IOK are 360 degree opposite in this regard. So before meddling in others affairs one should first consider on ground realities as such realities do fire back if not considered.
