QUETTA: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, while hearing the Balochistan law and order case, termed Nawab Akbar Bugtis killing the biggest mistake and said that there could be no peace until the Dera Bugti matter was resolved and ordered for this to be done within two weeks, Express News reported on Tuesday.
The chief justice made these remarks in the Supreme Courts Quetta Registry where he was heading a three-member bench and hearing cases pertaining to missing people and the Balochistan law and order situation.
During the hearing, Akbar Bugtis son and Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief Nawabzada Talal Bugti said that him leaving would result in external forces taking over Dera Bugti.
The chief secretary said that measures were being taken to ensure peace in the area, upon which the chief justice gave directives for including Nawab Bugtis family in the voters list.
Providing security to the people is a duty of the government, said Justice Chaudhry.
During the hearing, the chief justice, irked at Attorney General Ifran Qadirs absence, told the deputy AG to summon six federal secretaries instead.
At one point, the chief justice enquired about the doctors strike underway in Quetta, to which the advocate general replied saying they were outside. The chief justice directed him to bring them inside respectfully.
The chief justice ordered them to end the strike, to which they agreed.
The police department, as per the chief justices instructions, submitted the notification pertaining to shoulder promotions in the court.
