As I was reading the book by Dalyrymple The Last Moghul I was struck by the similarities between Bahadur Shah Zafar & Zardari.
Some of these are :
Both of them are / were pitch forked into situations they neither comprehended nor expected.
Their writ ran / runs possibly only inside the Presidential Palace / Red Fort.
They are / were held accountable or expected to control rapidly worsening situations responsibility with no authority.
No one among their courtiers bothers ( ed) to consult him.
Only of ornamental value.
Their fates decided by overseas powers.
One was , but will the other be the last of his line ?
One was banished from his kingdom, the other would possibly seek exile on his own.
Both were / are fun loving with a liking for the good things of life.
