BAE to lead USAF’s Minuteman III ICBM contract

BAE Systems has taken the lead to work on the US Air Force (USAF) Minuteman III Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Integration Support Contract (ISC).
Last July, BAE Systems received a $534m, eight and a half year contract from the USAF to maintain the readiness of the nation's intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) inventory.
As part of the Future Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Sustainment and Acquisition Construct (FISAC) ISC programme, the company has been tasked to deliver systems engineering, integration, testing, logistics and other services to support the missile, ground and launch systems for 450 deployed LGM-30G Minuteman III missiles.
The Boeing-built LGM-30G Minuteman III is a ground-based ICBM designed to offer nuclear warheads, and signifies one component of a nuclear triad that is complemented by the Trident submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) and by nuclear weapons carried by long-range strategic bomber aircraft.
Since being operational with the USAF in 1968, the missiles are located in silos at the 90th Missile Wing at Warren Air Force Base (AFB) in Wyoming, the 341st Missile Wing at Malmstrom AFB in Montana, and the 91st Missile Wing at Minot AFB in North Dakota, US.
Managed by the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (NWC), work under the contract is being primarily executed at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, US.
