They are constantly hailed as a 'superfood' and a great source of healthy fats.

But a new video reveals you may not be getting all the health benefits you could from avocados.

The key, it seems, is in how you remove the fruit from its skin.
Created by the American Chemical Society, experts there explain the part of an avocado with the most nutrients is the darker green part just beneath the skin.

They therefore go on to show the best way to cut and peel the fruit to get the maximum health benefit:

In a new video, experts reveal how to get the most health benefits from an avocado. First, cut vertically all the way round the pip of the avocado - and then twist both sides to separate

Then remove the pip from one half of the avocado by hacking it with a knife and then twisting it - and cut the two halves into four quarters

Finally, instead of digging in with a spoon, peel the skin from the flesh. If the avocado is ripe, it should come off smoothly

Step 1: Cut vertically all the way round the pip of the avocado.

Actually, picking the right avocados isn't easy at all.
If you pick the wrong ones, you end up with a terrible smoothie :(

I have been seeing this fruit since long on internet, movies & cartoons etc. Really wana try this.
Is it available in Karachi ?
 
Sab choro add this fruit to chinese salad and enjoy the whole creamy texture

PS: for the veggie heads or omnivores, avocado is a complete protein... and really really good.
 
Peel the fruit as told in #1 post. Cut into cubes put in blender. Add honey (as per desire), add a small pinch of vanilla powder and litre of milk. Blend with ice cubes added. Very nice and tasty:P. Note: Fruit should be ripe and soft or otherwise you will not go for Avocado again.
 
Erm....idk but i read somewhere that if you manipulate food with blenders, cutting it into cubes, it looses some of it's beneficiary ingredients, iirc they just fall apart and aren't such a benefit to the body.

But idk, i might have been just stoned and was cutting garlic and gf said so........idk....
 
forget peeling. Just cut the top off and eat it with a spoon (yes leverage out the pip too)

Yes it is available at Imtiaz supermerket , Naheed and Metro defence and shahra-e-faisla branches mostly.

Depends ....if the same fruit has enzymes which breakdown the good stuff , the min it is "attacked" (yes you peeling it open is seen as the plant being attacked so it does release some enzymes to protect its fruit) quicker than it can go in your body (so your body can absorb the good stuff before it breaks down to nothing...

But I doubt it is that bad....No matter how much the good stuff is degraded, some still manages to reach your body :p:

I don't. AND when I do, I admit it.

Secondly, I do it with only a few people on PDF, NOT any tom, dick or harry!

:o:, then instead of avocado's he will start peeling onions:lol:.
Well that is a risk one needs to calculate carefully! :p:
