Ajmer blast accused remanded till May 21 - Jaipur - City - The Times of India
JAIPUR/AJMER: Rajasthan ATS has admitted in court that they are looking into Maoists' link with perpetrators of 2007 Ajmer blasts.
Producing the case diary in district court of Ajmer on Wednesday, the ATS claimed they had vital clues suggesting that the blast was carried out by some people associated with Hindu organisations, who took Maoists' support in making the bombs, which were triggered at Ajmer dargah in 2007 in which three were killed.
The ATS stated that to confirm some of the findings regarding Maoist help, an ATS team took the two main accused in Ajmer blasts Devendra Gupta and Chandrashekhar Barod to Naxal-infested Jamtara area of Jharkhand and interrogated many people there.
Citing these reasons, the ATS had sought extension of remand period of the two accused, which was granted by the court till May 21. The ATS has told the court that both Devendra and Chandrashekhar would be taken to Jharkhand and West Bengal once again to confirm the early leads, which hint at Maoist link in procuring the bombs. Devendra and Chandrashekhar had been RSS pracharak and were linked to Abhinav Bharat, which was held responsible for Hyderabad Mecca Masjid, Malegaon blasts.
ATS sources said that over five men were interrogated in bordering areas of Jharkhand and West Bengal. "These men with criminal history had links with Naxals active in Jharkhand and West Bengal," ATS has stated. The cops have claimed that Devendra was constantly changing statements which prompted them to take him to Jharkhand.
Lab reports confirm that TNT was used in the bombs at Ajmer and Hyderabad and Naxals also use the same explosive. The ATS sources said that there are possibilities that the bomb was arranged from the Maoists as they knew the functioning of mobile timer bombs and frequently use them.
Devendra Gupta and Chandrashekhar Barod who were arrested from Madhya Pradesh were remanded to ATS's custody till May 21 on Wednesday. ATS sources said that the two accused would be interrogated and the lead regarding Naxal help will be followed further.
