MUMBAI/ISLAMABAD: Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has been repeatedly shrugging off requests to promote his latest song Sehmi Hai Dhadkan from the forthcoming Bollywood film Daas Dev, says its producer Sanjeev Kumar.

“Atif said he will do it, but it hasn’t been done. I’m not sure why he isn’t taking part in the activity, but, as a producer, I see that work promised hasn’t been executed,” Kumar said in a statement.

Sehmi Hai Dhadkan was unveiled on February 22 as the first song from Sudhir Mishra’s film Daas Dev, a contemporary take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Devdas.

Earlier this month, politician Babul Supriyo had asked for a ban on Pakistani artistes working in the Hindi film industry. He had also objected to the inclusion of Pakistan singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s voice in the film Welcome To New York.

To this, Kumar said, “Normally, such statements are made by fringe groups. When a minister says it, it leaves an impact on more people. But we needed Atif for this song. He has 20 million followers on social media. Imagine the kind of traction we would have got had he promoted it.”

Daas Dev stars Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Rahul Bhat. It is scheduled to hit the screens on March 23.

“It is unfortunate that art and cinema, which bring people together by acting as cultural bridges, are being held hostage to hate and xenophobia,” Foreign Office spokesperson Muhammad Faisal said.

“Unfortunately this decision, following several others, including non-issuance of visas to Pakistani pilgrims, refusal to allow participation of Sikhs and Katas Raj pilgrims, and cancellation of sports matches, underscores the growing intolerance and bias prevalent in India,” Faisal said.

These decisions taken and/or upheld by the Indian government “expose it of (becoming) a sham-ocracy”, the spokesperson said.

Had already stopped listening to him when he sang in Tiger zinda hai a sequel to the movie which was anti pak. And that song in ek tha tiger was a token song for a pakistani just like gohar rasheed (i hate that actor btw) was offered terrorists role in Neerja and he refused tho he says he wants to work in bollywoods other films, he so crass actor that iwish bollywood takes him in for good n he never comes abck to pakistan.

Anyways, left listening to atif aslam. So who cares what he does, he already sold his national pride to an enemy and worthless cheap country just for a fee of 8 lac rupees per song.

Aik tau pakistani qoum kay kayi logon ko shrines and mizaron pay beth kay duain mangnay kay ilawa koi kaam nahi. Aur agar karna hee hai tau pakistan may reh kay karo as if the number of shirnes in pakistan are less, why goto india and give them millions in tourism revenue etc. already pakistani people send huge donations to some famous shrines in india like ajmeer etc whose gaddi nasheens have become billionaires.

And why we are complaining that they are not allowing sikhs and hindu pilgrims to katas raj and cancellation of sports events? And above why on earth we are supposed to bother with ban of Hindu and sikh pilgrims or any indian visitors? We already want indians banned from pakistan.

Seriously our FO has zero sense of self respect and he is crying over ban of pakistani artists. Like koi izzat nahi.

This guy Khawaja asif prematurely tweeted about Fatf decision and ended up pissing off americans into reopening voting and then what followed they didnt cover adequately but when Sridevi died then not only was her news running for almost entire day on all pak channels but also minister of information Maryam aurangzeb was issuing condolence statements to india. I mean THE HELL!

Hamari gov and pakistanis may koi self respect nahi hai, all they want is bollywood shytt and indians.

Good job, first indian producers begs popular Pakistani singers to sing in their movies to make it popular and earn money from it and then forget to give credit where its due....and BTW i dont think they need to mention Atif Aslam name in any song as people in whole world recognize Atif voice more then any other indian singer
