The partnership of Syria, Russia, Iran and Iraq will save the region from collapsing. Otherwise "the region will be destroyed".
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — President Bashar Assad said Sunday successful cooperation between Syria, Russia, Iran and Iraq would save the region from destruction.

Russia started carrying out airstrikes against ISIL in Syria on Wednesday, following the request of Assad.

Oh lá lá: It's 'Simply Pathetic’ How US, France Demonize Russian Airstrikes in Syria
Russia, Syria, Iran and Iraq agreed last week to cooperate on security and intelligence sharing in Syria and established an information center in Baghdad to coordinate efforts in the fight against ISIL.
Assad said the coalition had high chances to succeed, as a number of countries had already expressed their support to the coalition.

The Syrian leader stressed that Moscow's role in the national reconciliation cannot be overrated.

"When we reach a consensus as Syrians in the Moscow conference, any other conference, or any other dialogue will be bound by the consensus that we will reach in Moscow. That is why we said that Moscow 3 is essential for the success of Geneva 3," Assad told Khabar TV in an interview.

Syria's warring parties have met twice over the last three years at UN-backed Geneva conferences and twice in the Russian capital Moscow but failed to reach a practical solution toward ending the violence that has killed more than 250,000 people.

He added that Russia never tried to impose anything on Syria, especially in connection with the ongoing crisis in the country.

The Syrian authorities support any political measures in the country along with counterterrorism efforts, Assad said.

The Syrian president also noted that a political solution to the Syrian conflict was unlikely until a number of states continued to support terrorism.

ISIL Expanded Territory After US Created Coalition - Syrian Ambassador
Syria has been mired in a civil war since 2011, as government forces loyal to Bashar Assad have been fighting several opposition and radical extremist groups, including the Nusra Front and ISIL.
The United States and some of its allies have been conducting airstrikes against ISIL positions in both Syria and Iraq since 2014. However, the efficiency of the US-led coalition's airstrikes is questionable.

The US-led coalition has conducted airstrikes on ISIL positions in Syria without the permission of Damascus, even though international law permits the use of force in a foreign country only if it has been authorized by the UN Security Council, as an act of self-defense, or at the request of the country’s authorities.

Assad is only 50, compared to Hadi who is 70. Assad's best days are ahead of him. Plus his son is too young to take over the job of president.

Gadaffi is dead, see what happen to Libya. Assad is no better but at least he is better than ISIS. There is no more FSA as all defected to ISIS or killed.

Its either you choose ISIS or Assad.

come on no one goes that easily

by the way democracy will more more slowly in Syria

In times of crisis, a strongman is needed , not a mad man like ISIS organisation.

Russia’s participation in the fight against ISIL in Syria could bring some major changes in the balance of power in the Middle East, Semyon Bagdasarov, the director of the Center for the Middle East and Central Asian Studies, told Radio Sputnik.

Assad: ‘West uses terrorism as new instrument to subjugate Middle East’

READ IT NICE ARTICLE

Western countries are using terrorism as an instrument of control, Syrian President Bashar Assad said in a recent interview. He also said that he is ready to step down if his departure is the solution to the four-year-long conflict.
“From the beginning it was clear to us that there were foreign hands behind terrorism in Syria,” Assad said in interview with Iran’s Habar TV.

President Assad thinks that the US-led coalition against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) is ineffective because the West does not want to defeat terrorist groups. In fact, it wants to preserve the balance between the warring sides to “perpetuate the process of erosion in Syria and Iraq and later other countries of the region, so that we all remain weak for decades and maybe generations.”

How can the United States and its allies fight terrorism or ISIS in Syria and Iraq while their closest allies in the government of Erdogan and Davutoglu are supporting terrorists and enabling them to cross the borders and bring weapons, money and volunteers through Turkey?” he asked.
Since the US-led coalition was formed, terrorism expanded geographically and its recruits multiplied, the Syrian president said.

“God willing it [Syria, Iran and Hezbollah] will be able to defeat terrorism which is a new instrument for subjugating the region,” he stressed.

Unlike the US-led coalition, Russia together with Iran, Iraq and Syria have “great chances of success.”

“It must succeed. Otherwise, the whole region, not only one or two countries, will be destroyed,” Assad said.

Russia, as well the Soviet Union in the past, [has] never tried to impose anything on Syria, especially in this crisis,” he said stressing that, as opposed to the US, Russia is against interferences, hegemony and violations of the UN Charter.

‘If my departure is the solution, I will never hesitate to do that’

President Assad once again stated that he is ready for political dialogue with all Syrians – but not with foreign powers. “Any talk about the political system or the officials in this county is an internal Syrian affair,” he said.

“When the Syrian people decide that a certain individual should stay, he will stay; and when the Syrian people decide that he should go, he will go immediately,” the president said. “If my departure is the solution, I will never hesitate to do that,” he added.

Assad stressed that no state in the world conducts dialogue with terrorists and that they should be subject to the laws and brought to justice.

“However, the state might conduct dialogue with terrorists in one case, when the objective of the dialogue is for the individuals who carried out terrorist acts to lay down their arms and embrace the state and the law,” he added, noting that this has actually happened in Syria, with the government having held talks with various reconciliation-seeking groups, granting them amnesty and giving them an opportunity to go back to their normal lives.

Assad wasn't willing to just get on a plane and leave when rebels, supported by foreign players, were attacking the country. No leader should just leave. But he was never against talks, and never said that he should be leader of the country until the day he dies. Neither did Russia & Iran.

However, oppositions always said, "No, he should LEAVE and then we will talk!". What kind of stupid suggestion is that? If he had left suddenly, you think everyone would have shaken each other's hands and become best friends? No, we would have a power vacuum, and instead of at least having a hope for Syria to turn stable again, there would been no hope.

Libya is million times better now than Syria. If Ghaddafi was resigning earlier like Ben Ali, it would be trillion times better.
