As the world struggles to deal with an aggressive US administration that is only interested in its "America First" motto and a protectionist agenda, there is debate about how to find the right way ahead for the next three years at least.

The EU and China are in a position to lead the global economic order in a more balanced direction, one that focuses on cooperation and safeguarding globalization as the main path toward sustainable development.

The EU and China have the world's most dynamic economic relationship, with their bilateral trade now exceeding $1 billion per day.

Their trade and investment exchanges have become a major engine not only for their growth but also for global economic development and innovation.

The relationship between the EU and China can be used to counter the efforts by US policymakers to fragment regional economies by imposing tariffs.

As Chinese officials have said on several occasions, it is simply normal to look at building greater cooperation between the two economic giants.

With hundreds of flights between China and Europe every week, and more than 150 China-Europe train journeys each month along the route of the Belt and Road initiative (BRI), the vast Chinese market has brought huge profits to the roughly 16,000 European companies operating in China, and Chinese companies that have invested in the EU have created a large number of jobs in European countries.

EU-China trade in services amounts to more than 10 percent of the total trade in goods worldwide.

From an investment perspective, we are seeing growth in quantity and quality, with investment increasingly dedicated to high-tech sectors rather than traditional manufacturing.

All the numbers and the overall economic dynamic show how well positioned both economies are to stand firm against US economic intimidation tactics.

Another key aspect is that the EU and China have considerable influence in two emerging markets: Africa and MENA (Middle East and Northern Africa).

African and Middle Eastern economies today depend on the EU and China to develop their local economies and integrate with the EU market and the BRI.

As the US is busy imposing tariffs, developing nations in both Africa and the Middle East can rely on their historical partnership with the EU and China to secure much needed market access and funds to innovate, integrate and export freely at a lower cost and a faster pace.

For China, this is an opportunity to promote industrial upgrading.

And for Europe, which is at the higher end of industrialization, it is a chance to increase its share of the international market.

The cooperation between the two economic giants will also impact the global industrial chain. Developing countries represent a big market and massive demand.

China has extensive industries in various sectors and the EU needs buyers for its equipment and technologies. So there are broad prospects for cooperation in production capacity.

This can also help increase North-South and South-South cooperation and it will facilitate global economic recovery and promote inclusive development.

China and the EU have a responsibility to advance global cooperation in production capacity, and to contribute to strong, sustainable and balanced growth of the world economy.

In doing so, they will provide a check and balance system that can counter any economic power that tries to impose protectionist regulations.

It is European leader's choice to become independent world leaders, along with other regional powers like China. Hostile Washington needs to be marginalized. With Europe taking the place of Amerika. A PM Corbyn would be the catalyst in this. No other brave leaders exist in Europe, ready to stand for a better world. Most a stuck in old cold war thinking of needing the Washington regime/NATO to protect for a non-existent threat of Russia.

The EU and China have the world's most dynamic economic relationship, with their bilateral trade now exceeding $1 billion per day.

As the USA retreats into tariffs and protectionism, the most important economic relationship in the world will be between China and the EU.

Bear in mind that when the world laughed at the USA during the last United Nations meeting, it was the Europeans and especially Germany who was laughing the loudest. The politics of the American Alt-Right and Donald Trump are obscene to most Europeans (and to the rest of the world).

The EU has always ridden on a rules-based international order, of which they once believed the USA to be the guarantor of. Now with Donald Trump, they realize they could not have been more wrong, in fact the greatest threat to the rules-based international order comes from Trumpland itself. The Paris Climate agreement, the TPP, the Iran nuclear deal, withdrawing from the UNHRC and even the brazen attacks against the United Nations itself. The trade war which the USA has launched against the entire world, of which only Australia and Argentina currently have exemptions. The USA is bent on destroying the international order in order to benefit some petty internal politics, and to earn a few more votes for the "Trump Family Dynasty" (Jared Kushner included).

Why would the EU want China ??
It is more like China wants EU

. . . .
I don't argue with ignorants. Please don't quote me ever again or I will make sure to show the door.
you want the Europeans to suck up to China. you could care less if it is in their interest

.
Is it in the interest of the Europeans to distance themselves from crazy zionists and be friends with China? Hum... hum... hummmm... This is not a difficult question...

Europeans, you decide, do you want to be considered sub-humans worthy of being killed by zionist jews, like Palestinians are slaughtered. Or do you want to be free from insanity and build a rational world based on brotherhood.

The EU does not need China for much
China does not follow any of the rules the top EU states follow - Germany, France or UK

If there were no need, there would not be over 8000 freight train trips between the two sides.

So, there is a need, and it is a two-way street.

You would be surprised how much Volkswagen relies on China market for profit.

Germany, France or UK

Funnily enough, UK was the first country to ignore the US warning and join the AIIB, opening the floodgates of participation, making the AIIB a bigger institution than the 5-decade old ADB.

LOL.. Most of the goods China sold to EU are essential goods for daily survival as Chinese goods with great efficient of production and good ratio for money vs quality.

The Chinese goods sold to EU are not LV bag or Prada shoes of super branded items. Without those Chinese goods, European will loses all the competitive edge. Standard of living will increase and inflation will skyrocket high.
Just like how US walmart fill with billion dollars of Chinese daily items and American loves to shop their necessity from there. If Walmart dont import a single made in China items, it will virtually close down. Ordinary American will suffer.

Just becos a country export more to another country, doesnt mean the imported countries is at disadvantage.
If India import billions of arms from Russia and Russia imported zero of India. Does that means India can dont need to buy Russian arms.

EU cant do without Chinese goods. This is a fact you need to accept no matter how u bark.

You and Chinese nonsense. The trade volume Germany with China is about that between Germany and Netherlands. Chinese essential goods, without that Europe can’t survive? Yes, if the Germans eat instant noodles 365 days a year.
