What's new

As Manohar Parrikar goes to Bangladesh, time to ask: Who is afraid of India in the Bay of Bengal?

I have started to believe that With Jamat and BNP being dead, Sheikh Hasina has no organized opponent in BD and She doesn't need India anymore.

The only thing she lacks At the moment is popularity among hardcore nationalists who traditionally dislike India.

However, She is now well on her way to destroy that antipathy too.

No important familiar face receiving The Indian Minister is an eye opener to me. Rejecting indian arms was expected.

However India Shouldn't forget that She cancelled Chinese Deal for deep sea port Just for India's concern. They should be satisfied.

JOY BANGLA

DUDE, Subs are not here yet:omghaha:. Parrikar will only be studying the fish and the crabs. :dance3: Welcome to the Bay of Bengal.:welcome:

Study something that hasn't even arrived yet?.....So thats what the indian defence minister calls "the plan".

He is there to finish the deal before your subs and our navy officers arrive. He is a minister, not a submarine expert.

:woot:.........Are you writing a SNL sketch, your navy officers arrive..... parrikar arrived in Dhaka and was greeted by the PSO........unlike the Chinese defence ministers arrival, the COAS couldn't even bother to get out of bed!

He arrived with offers of hardware and was not too subtly told were not interested, now you've come up with the notion the real plan by the defence minister was to send indian navy officers to learn about old chinese training subs......

please continue, this is getting funnier by the day.

Manohar Parrikar is from Goa and he will enjoy nice fews days get away in Bangladesh. He will enjoy the delicacy of hilsa and other fish dishes. Treat him well else you may find another dam across any of our rivers. Its funny to see Bangladeshis opening multiple threads for a just a visit by Parrikar. Chill guys, better stick to RMG, global warming, illegal migration, population control topics. Those are relevant topics where Bangladesh is relevant. Subs, aircrafts these are fancy toys and looks like a rickshaw puller discuss the car. Instead of buying subs better buy vessels for your rohngiya muslim brothers who are being thrown into the sea.

No, the Minister Provu will be studying how BD has improved the quantity and catches of Hilsha fish, which India may want to follow. I wonder why he should be here to disgrace himself and his country? BD feeling towards India has been a covert one. But, this guy has come to Dhaka to make it overt for other nations to see.

Farakka barrage, Teesta water, and now Brahmaputra diversion program in full swing, when this Provu is in Dhaka to discuss military hardware business.

This report is a well thought out piece of document on the BD purchase of Chinese weapons and the Indian reaction. The reaction is understood, but, it is India that forced our hands to seek offensive weapons. An independent country has the right to develop its armed forces. It is the responsibility of its big neighbour not to try to subjugate its sovereignty with the Dhamki of its superior force.

Indian policy is responsible for making an enemy out of a friend. We did not like the intimidation policy of Yahya Khan in 1971, and we do not like India intimidating us since 1971 with its sophisticate weapons and dams across the common rivers. Oh!! India is a friend, no doubt!!

Chinese Defense Minister, who visits nearly every year is received by the COAS

Chinese Defense Minister General Chang Wanquan is greeted by Bangladesh Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday. ISPR Photo

The Chinese Defense Minister first meets the three services Chiefs and then has Political meetings with the PM and President, where as the Indian Defense Ministers visit is more focused on political engagement (meeting President, PM, Defense advisor). Mr. Parikar does not have any scheduled interaction (one on one official meeting) with the three services Chiefs. Only the Vice Chiefs of Indian services and the Coast Guard DG has scheduled meetings.

Countering Sino-Bangla Defense relations with this visit is the most absurd wet dream from our neighborhood. The personnel to personnel contact between the two Armed Forces is extremely strong!

You are so full of it. What dishonesty in one single post.

The chinese defence minister is a general. Our defence minister is a politician who does not meet generals from other countries. Why will your COAS receive him?????

Our defence minister met with your top rulers, military to military contact is not his job. Also who said anything about countering anything? This is our very first such visit, and is part of our overall efforts to increase engagement in the region. And you guys think our people did not know about the submarine deal years ago or did we find out only now?????

the submarine deal was very transparent from the BD side...

Judging by your feeble over-reactions its any ones guess what you did with this information for the last several years.

BD is china centric and will remain so and there is nothing you can do about it. Standard indian habit of chest thumping has zero relevance beyond your borders.

Military decisions in BD is strictly taken by the military.... politicians keep out of it.... your defence minister just embarrassed himself and wasted times of a few junior BD officials.

Our defence minister met with your prime minister. Only in Pakistan thats a junior officer.

There has been no official reaction in India to the subs. There are 10000 news outlets in India and everything printed in any of them is not our reaction.

Yes India is not relevant outside our borders like Bangladesh is. I totally agree.

Hasina maid will be dead in this playing the big powers game.
