It is the same article (all three links)...I think it may be the seminal work on AI applications to aircraft systems but I guess a lot of advancement has taken place in this field since 1996.

Yes indeed, a lot of advancements, yet these articles are just a sample to shade some light on the Subject.. The 3rd PdF is quite general on the subject of AI..

It is always great to refer to the classical or original work. I will print them or add to my kindle and read it on next flight. Thanks for sharing.
 
Professor Negnevitsky has a 3rd edition of the 2004 version you linked

A nice overview by Warren R. Dufrene...done. I appreciate his approach but now it's too late so time to hit the bed.
