Arnold Schwarzenegger Invites PM Khan To Join His Climate Change Initiative
Schwarzenegger has been fighting pollution and climate change for nearly 20 years.

Chairman of The Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, Arnold Schwarzenegger has invited Prime Minister Imran Khan to attend the Austrian World Summit. Former Hollywood star and California governor launched the initiative back in 2017 and is aimed at cutting emissions to 1990 levels by the year 2020.

Schwarzenegger has been fighting pollution and climate change for nearly 20 years. He has achieved several significant milestones on his journey so far. These milestones include reducing emissions to 1990 standards and installing one million solar roofs in his state when he was the governor of California.

The purpose of the summit is to join forces in Vienna to create united climate front, fight
pollution and work towards a clean and pollution-free environment across the globe.

The invitation appreciated PM Khan’s efforts to curb global warming in Pakistan and
called him “a strong and important partner in climate action alliance”.

PM Khan’s purposed activities besides attending the summit:

• Bilateral meetings with the Austrian President and other heads of state.
• Dinner with significant and notable personalities from politics, business, science,
  arts and culture.
• Engage with influential climate leaders from all cross-sections of society to forge
  partnerships, exchange ideas and accelerate local, regional and global
  collaborations with broad public attention.
• Attend a luncheon hosted by the Austrian President.

The conference will be held in the Hofburg Palace, Vienna on May 26th, 2020.

Pakistan needs to DO MORE in terms of jumping on the bandwagon of Climate and do as Many international level seminars as it is possible inviting all the big names to attend.

Time to become a host for international climate summits.

PTI government should look to phase out gas geysers and stoves in the average Pakistani household and instead replace it with electric. They are more efficient, will reduce emissions and will also reduce gas import bill since now gas domestic production does not meet demand. We also have surplus of electricity now with more power projects slated to come online in this decade.

We may have a surplus of electricity but we're gonna have to develop better ways of getting that electricity to households. Which would take time.

And our electricity will still be generated by natural gas and coal, neuclear power plants are much better environmentally but they don't make sense economically as of yet.

What he has done with his life is really something. Once read a book on Arnold titled ‘ Fantastic’ ... the man is definitely that. He is definitely a ‘climate guy’ and he is a step ahead though doesn’t have the media power that the 16 year old Greta has.
