Army to step up vigil in Uttarakhand.

With China spreading its tentacles in Tibet fearing unrest, the Indian army is moving swiftly to increase its presence in the border state of Uttarakhand and construct 13 new helipads.

The army has thus put up a roadmap to acquire 23,216 acres of more land in the hill state, keeping in view strategic importance of Uttarakhand. State chief secretary Subash Kumar held discussions on Thursday with top army officials. The meeting, held at the secretariat here, also decided to give the army NOCs required for its different projects in the hill state. This will be done within ten days, an official statement said.

The meeting also decided in principle that the land required by army should be made available, and there should be no further delay. In this regard, Kumar asked both the commissioners of Garhwal and Kumaon regions to identify such land on top priority basis. The government should carry a joint survey with field officers of the army, he added.

In the meeting, the defence personnel said the army would construct 13 helipads in the state. Besides, it would take up new projects in areas such as Almora, Banbasa, Dharchula, Dehradun, Dharasu, Charmagaurd, Chhiyalekh, Gunji, Ghatoli, Ghansali, Auli, Haldwani, Pantnagar and Pithoragarh, the statement said.

The army is moving ahead to increase its presence in Uttarakhand at time when China has already increased its presence in Tibet fearing turmoil by supporters of Dalai Lama. The Tibetan administration has already beefed up security measures following a spate of suicides by monks and nuns, demanding the return of the Dalai Lama

How? We have the most anti-national government in the history of our country. With such a government, who needs China to trouble?

We will need Narendra Modi as the PM in command if we have to thrash the Dragon. Remember, we don't lack capability; our ruling government lacks WILL.

Well, this is something you do have to appreciate about Indian politicians.

No matter how corrupt or lazy they are, they do know how to take care of the country's most vital national interests specially when it comes to defense.

MMS even reiterated this fact that China wants to keep us off-balance. Why the hell he is not being aggressive, I dont know

37 incursions of Chinese forces reported in Uttarakhand: CM

NEW DELHI: At least 37 incursions of Chinese forces have been reported during the last five years in Uttarakhand, which has a 350 kilometer long border with China, chief minister Vijay Bahuguna said on Monday.

Speaking at the chief ministers' conference on internal security, the newly-elected chief minister of Uttarakhand, Bahuguna said Chinese are disputing Indian territorial claims regarding Barahoti in Chamoli district.

"There have been several reported incursions by Chinese patrol parties into Indian territory in this area: six times in 2006, twice in 2007, ten times in 2008, eleven times in 2009, five times in 2010 and thrice in 2011," he said.

Underlining the importance of a potent road network in the border areas, Bahuguna said the Centre has sanctioned 12 strategic roads in border areas but the progress has been slow owing to forest clearances.

"Expediting the construction of border roads and tracks is crucial especially in view of the modern highways constructed by China right upto the international border with India," he said.

Bahuguna also raised concerns about the threat posed by the Moists in Nepal who have declared Kalapani in Pithoragarh district to be a Nepalese territory and repeatedly threatening to march to it.

"A frontal organisation of the Nepalese Maoists, the Young Communist League (YCL), is very active in the Nepalese province of Mahakali Anchal, which has borders with Uttarakhand," the chief minister said.

The chief minister said intelligence inputs indicate that CPI Maoists have designs to deploy People's Liberation Guerilla Army cadres in Uttarakhad and intensify their tactical counter-offensive campaign in order to push the state into the "fourth stage" of the revolutionary movement.
