Army scores major win over IAF, gets Apache gunships

That is a nice score! Anyone who has seen the gun-cam videos has witnessed the destruction and terror that they can reign down on confused targets. It is an awesome weapon to be respected.

As the title says:
.
The title has more to do with this statement.
All future acquisitions of attack helicopters will thereafter be for the Army, an indication that a reluctant IAF will gradually cede this role of providing close helicopter support for ground troops in combat entirely to the Army, which hopes to start getting its Apaches after 2018.

Which still means the same. If that role doesn't exist in IAF anymore, there is nor need for combat helicopters, so if the role is diverted to IA, so are the first 22 Apaches. The former IAF chief Browne even started to make up new requirements, to justify combat helicopters in IAF, but at least the former defence minister didn't bought that. The question what will the new DM / MoD decide about the beef between the forces and this procurement as a whole.
The best would be to scrap it and leave IA and IAF with the indigenous combat helicopters. Less problems with the forces, no waste of money, that can be used for more important procurements.
