Yar since you are so pro military, please name me just one large scale victory of theirs, where they have won with big margin, took chunk of land or liberated land.

Then and only then we can justify the budget.

Any constructive criticism is always welcomed but using fabricated / false figure (as explained by tamai above) just to wash hands in flowing water of army bashing is not justified.

The 16% is only the direct expense, and when other hidden budgets such as the nuclear program and retirement accounts etc. are taken into account, it is even bigger.

In Pakistan defence is important but the problem is that our leaders sadly are corrupt. If the 3 billion that zardari alone nicked was spent on education that would go some way. We should do what other countries do when they overthrow their leaders like mubarack of egypt and ask countries where they are holding their ill gotton gains to give pakistani peoples money back to the pakistanis.The western countries are complicit cos thats where these Bxxxxxxx hide their money

People just think for a moment, instead of looking at it like the one day bidget of army equal to whole year education, think of the exact figures. This figure is huge. If the budget of the education ministry is 1 %, then the military is 365%??. Just so you know, During the bidget session, the State of Pakistan spent 2 crore and 7 lakhs on the food of MNA. We spend a grand total of 2600 only on the food of an MNA during the session, excluding electricity, gas and all the other costs.

The budget for 2011-2012 is 249 arab rupees. Do the math.

That's 16% of government budget, not the GDP. Do you not know the difference between the two?

Furthermore, it's actually around 22%, not 16%. Our spending of GDP on education is around 2%, so it would be 10% at least of budget. As they say, don't believe everything you're told from the media.
