Hopefully, this will be one more successful visit by COAS and we will get one more friend in the region. If we can do this, then imagine a 500000 strong, battle hardened military fully focused on defeating India. A nightmare for India, indeed.

In 1984 Iran promised Pakistan to reserve 2 Division Military Reserve in case of our War with India just because our Military Attache walked into the Funeral of Iranian Soldiers while other Embassies were afraid to step out due to Iraqi Air Force. Although we refused such offers later.

In good 80's I used to read 'Jang' news about Iran Iraq war!
I wonder the wisdom of such statement from Khomeini... if it's any bit true.

Well for that you need to get some maturity first. So instead of being a Keyboard analyst. You go buy some books. Read the Profile of Intelligence by Brig AI Tirmazi.

Pakistan was pretty soft on Iran during the 1980s when most of the world was against them
I never understood why

Because we had the Islamist Zia who continued the fascist Bhuttos legacy towards Iran.

But Iran is the first country to recognise Pakistan. So any animosity between the two is just not worth it between the two sides.

The civilian setup in Iran respects Pakistan's commitment to a prosper life.

That does not explain it
Zia was a Sunni hardliner who was quite cozy with the Americans, Saudis and Gulf Arabs
Iran was under first generation Shia revolutionaries who were at war with Iraq but the entire Arab world minus Syria.

Nope.

No shia sunni in state business my wise Indian.

Iraq and Pakistan did not see eye to eye. Baathists still don't do. Pakistan sees Iran as an extension of its own security. That's why the mutual trust

Iran and Pakistan simply respect each others choice to live freely as they may please.

Plenty of pakistanis will disagree on the Shia-Sunni divide at least with respect to Zia. Before Zia's rule you never had groups killing Shia worshippers at mosques.

that does not explain the conflicts in the 1990s

that does not explain the lack of progress on basic economic issues. Iran is a petroleum exporter. Pakistan is a petroleum importer. Yet you have a hard time getting a pipeline operational.

.
I hope General Bajwa take your assassination attempt with concerned authorities. We are brotherly countries and should not indulge into all this.

Well that must be taken serious. Such gem kids of ours are found in Iranian hit list.

As far as the pipeline or petroleum imports are concerned we prefer a stable supply which is cheaper to manage.
The shia sunni divide once again I reiterate is not a Pakistani thing. Ofcourse fringe elements may take a different view on things.

With the advent of Media it has been highlighted but these fringe elements have existed everywhere in the world ever since the divide manifested itself in the society.
