RAWALPINDI: Top military brass on Friday reviewed progress on National Action Plan (NAP) and military operation Zarb-e-Azb in a meeting presided over by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at GHQ.

General Raheel Sharif said that lack of progress on the National Action Plan was affecting the consolidation phase of military operation Zarb-e-Azb.

“National Action Plan is a source to achieve our goals,” remarked the Army Chief.

General Raheel said war against terror was close to its logical end, however, statements and analysis from some quarters were affecting national goals.

Army Chief reiterated his resolve to root out terrorism from Pakistan and urged all the institutions to ensure elimination of this menace from the country with their close cooperation.

He said the entire nation stands by armed forces.

Whatever done is done......now Military brass should think seriously to complete Zarb e Azab and operation against corruption on their own. They should realize that the hybrid system of hard working military and corrupt unwilling political elite cannot go together .

Either this operation should be stopped completely and military should go back in their barracks and let the nation suffer at the hand of corrupt leaders or take bold steps and take over . Even if Western powers oppose this , the nation will be behind our military .................provided they deliver as per aspirations of the people !

And people want to see that all corrupt and traitor politicians , judges, ex military, media men, business men etc. being punished , irrespective of their provincial bias , looted money to be brought back , good governance to be ensured, and solid economic foreign policy of self reliance to be adopted ! And most of all poor people should get first priority and attention !

People of Pakistan do not care if we live in democracy or Military rule as long as Government is delivering and poor people will get benefit of the progress !

In such dire circumstances, when Govt of Pakistan is not following NAP and GOP institutions not taking interest in managing areas cleared by Pakistan Army ops in FATA region, PA should take the matters in own hands using its different assets like MI,ISI, Rangers, FC and other forces that it commands. Till the law and order system and other governmental institutions actively start operating in cleared areas, PA should not leave the region and the whole effort go wasted.

Regarding FATA, XI Corps Peshawar has two infantry divisions, 7th and 9th, which have been excessively burdened along with FC since past 15 years for all the ops conducted in the region. Most of the formations from other areas go back after their tenure is finished. Pakistan should raise a new infantry Division for FATA region under XI Corps. The new division could have 2 X brigades of 6 LCB's drawn from Corps commands of areas not under imminent threat like Mangla, Gujranwala, Multan and Bahawalpur while raise two new LCB units. The third brigade could be of FC with tanks and artillery given to FC units.

This way 7th and 9th infantry divs can take a much needed rest while the newly raised division looks after matters in FATA till GOP comes to its senses and formulates a plan to manage recently cleared areas. After this happens, the Division can send back LCB's to their respective Corps while start intake of regular infantry units just like other Corps HQ's but retain the FC brigade, especially to manage the Durand line. In case of war with India, the 7th and 9th infantry divs can relocate to Kashmir or Lahore sector where needed, while this Infantry div can stay in Peshawar.

Regarding Punjab, COAS should have forced a Ranger ops against all odds to cleanse out corruption and extremism from areas ruled by local MNA's/MPA's but he didnt take the much needed timely decision.
