Army chief arrives in Quetta to address Hazara community grievances

Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Quetta on Tuesday, days after two people belonging to the Hazara community were shot dead in the provincial capital.

“COAS arrived at Quetta for an update on security situation and meeting with notables of Hazara Community,” said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) DG Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor in a statement.

Earlier today, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal during his visit to the sit-in staged at Zarghoon Road near Balochistan Assembly assured the community of security, and said that law enforcement agencies had been directed to apprehend the culprits behind the recent attacks.

During the visit, Iqbal also reviewed the security situation with Inspector-General Balochistan Moazzam Jah Ansari and Inspector-General Frontier Corps Major General Nadeem Anjum and met with the families of martyred policemen.

The Hazara community members staged demonstrations at three separate locations of the city. They are demanding protection from law enforcement agencies and have requested the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa to visit Quetta.

Too little too late. The Shia minority will continue to die. I mean who cares about them. Their voice would only be heard if either they pick up the guns and start armed struggle against state or start chanting anti Pakistan pro Indian/Israel slogans. Till that time, they will be prosecuted.

i must say.. Hazara community should stay away from this lady jalila haider.. She is also a fake representative of Hazara Community Just like Pashteen is a fake represented of Pakhtoons. Hazara elders and Real Leadership should represent their Community.

it hurts me that instead of PM, the COAS is the one that is called...Politicans needs to get their act together...
why have they failed to reform the police, federal govt has 5 trillion rupees , yes 1 trillion goes to defence 1.7 trillion to debt servicing but where does the rest 3 trillion rupees go..they should spare a few 100 billion ruppees and get chinese help in trianing police, establisng a survillance system and getting the judiciary stronger

Yes its pathetic when these so called activists refuse to meet civilians and always demand talks with army general. Federal gov doesn't have 5 trillion rupees, did you even break it down?

1.3t for army
2.5t for provinces
