Army and country

^ havnt read the above posts......
we can debate the 'pros' and 'cons' of the army's role in our politics and history, but one thing is crystal clear (to me atleast) - without the 'army (armed forces) our country stands to wither away.....

Sir it's the same cr@p that is posted in different foreign newspapers all over the world. That Pakistan army has hijacked Pakistan. It is interfering in the affairs of political govt. It is exploiting it's power and position. Is supporting and harboring terrorists and Taliban are a bigger threat for Paksitan than Bharat and other Blah Blah Blah that we hear too often in different foreign newspapers.

Fascist Nationalism coupled with religious feelings seem as an attractive setup but it will eventually propagate hatred against those who disagree on one thing or another.

It works in a homogenous society; even that too for a short while. In pakistan, it leads to disasters like 1971.

Our bengali brethren disagreed on various state matters. We chose to call them deviant and traitors. We all know what happened afterwards.

if we had truly adopted islam as an ideology we would not have seen what happened in Bangladesh...

Two points...

1. Nationalism was the basis of the tussle... We should crush all nationalism amongst Muslims... Simple method is to provide for the group that nationalists claim to represent so no issues remain between different groups... e.g Abolishing the idea of Kalabagh Dam will eradicate Pukhtoon Nationalism pretty much...
2. Issues were created on linguistic basis... A middle ground could have been simply to adopt both Urdu and Bangali as state languages... Better still, Arabic could have sufficed also!!!

Nobody is telling you to dismantle the army. The author's only arguing for the role of the army in Pakistan's internal politics and foreign policy to be limitied.

That's all.

I believe any non Pakistani holds any weight to tell us that even.

My point is an Islamic system simply wont work due to different sects this is based on eye witnessing by most pakistanis sectarian hatred shown by all parties , and mind you this isnt just verbal hatered there is a lot of innocent blood spilled hope you are aware ! now you may call my claim ludicrous but try and support it with a link rather than suggesting to go and do research

Tribune is itself a very much leftist western newspaper though published in Pakistan. The writer himself is basically a foreigner though he has been awarded Pakistani nationality after some of his pathetic TV shows.

This is about maligning Pakistan army presenting it something very evil which is very much common in western newspapers like Washington post or Newyork times or the guardian etc etc.

Zardari wants to implement stiff sanctions on terrorist financing and close down terrorist training camps, but he can’t. Why? The unelected and unaccountable military and intelligence agencies won’t allow it. We are also told that Kayani planned to pressure President Zardari to resign and replace him with Asfandyar Wali Khan. Er, on whose authority? Sorry, old chum, but I thought that decision fell to the Pakistani people at the ballot box, not a man who wears spaghetti on his shoulders.
The cables also reveal the army’s support of the Afghan Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t the faujis’ raison d’etre, it’s primary reason to exist, the first line in their handbook if you will, to protect us from enemies foreign and domestic? Or perhaps it’s to make cornflakes that taste of cardboard?

But the reason for the army’s support for the militants is of course our hatred of India. Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Afghan Taliban, despite their continuous killing of our own citizens, are apparently a vital part of our national security. Read that sentence again and it sounds like something from “Monty Python”. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Yes let’s threaten India by funding and supporting people who attack India and, er, ourselves. Good job

The wording might be different but the message is same that it is Pakistan army who is supporting terrorism and Taliban on the other hand Zardari the thug is against terrorism and extremism. Isn't it the same story that is narrated in different western newspapers.

Anyways looks like your hate for so called evil "punjabi" establishment has taken over your comprehension abilities.
