Armeena Khan under fire for 'periods aren't a big deal' statement on Twitter

Akalmaand ko ishara hi kaafi hota he. Girls have parental guidance when it comes to these issues.

What's next, teaching kids about sex by have a guy penetrating a woman on the big screen?

You burgers these days are mentally retarded.
The amount of ShitLibery is unprecedented.

Women should all together be banned from TV. /s

A society where a biological function observed in 50% of the population is seen as a taboo but glorifying murderers is fair game. Understandably the film could be released as Adults Only but I guess banning everything is the road we're taking.

Hi, how is it seen as a taboo?

When forking sanitary pad adverts run on your fukin National TV 24/7?

When its openly sold in markets and malls?

You pseudo liberals make issues out of nothing.

.
It makes no sense to speak about menses openly, all the girls have mothers, sister, aunts etc., who can assist in any matter so required and do so discreetly.
These people only want to smother their filth in the faces of the public and when they face backlash they will say "well, mind your business!!".

How when you're the one brandishing your business for everyone to see?

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: To armeena sharmeena ko howa kia hay? Yeh kis nay thread khola hay?? aur wesay aunt irma say deal karnay k liye ajkal asli nakli pad ki fatigue bhi lagi rehti hay

Bollywood ki koi film ban kardi hai. Isliye. Dukaan band horahi hai

Abe doodh dahi kay asli naqli masail bohat hain. Mujhe na hi batao.

There was a drama called udaari on HUMTV a couple months ago regarding a step father sexually abusing her own daughter, the network received a warning and the drama was barred from airing because supposedly the idea was so far fetched and fahash (in a society where 80% of sexual abuse is done by relatives). We want change in the country but don't want to change ourselves sadly , we will riot for children victim to this but do nothing to help those who have yet to face them.

When was it banned?

Here is its last episode - aired in July, 2016;

Dhonay ka tumhien pata nai.. issues k baap bantay ho tum log.

Drawing rooms mein A/C k neechay baith kar tum social issues per apni “intellectuals” discussions kartay ho... “inquilab” lay k atay ho.. aur phir 12-1 bajay sakoon say phir A/C k neechay baith kay so jatay ho.

rightly said. In fact last year and perhaps year before last one there was this some project funded by foreign entities which was about highlighting taboos, righting taboos rather it was mainly focused on propagating things about these sanitary pads in Pakistan and thus making up all kinds of stories . Now what happened a number of blogs written by Pakistani women sitting abroad and here too started making noise. And the noise and objection was why shopkeepers hand over these sanitary pads to ladies in a khaki paper bag or colored shoppers so these could not be visible. These women claimed in blogs that in Pakistan it is considered dirty when a women is passing through menstrual cycle every month and thus they hide it. DESERT for me this is a stupid and absurd claim by these women rather it is pure BS.

what the heck is this thread about can someone explain in simple words?

Some women rights campaign in India about taboos associated with periods which started few years ago, got some momentum I guess, and now there is movie about it(as in OP). Here I think people are arguing about taboos.

Edit: Tried adding a link from BBC from 2014, but apparently I couldn't. Google it.

What is wrong with these people. If you remember girl students of a famous elite college in Lahore put these on on walls of the college saying they are fighting the taboos and also against the practice why these are wrapped in khaki lifafa when selling to women by shopkeepers

In india and Nepal.. women on periods are considered inpure.... they are to live separately... in some corner or outside of their houses... they cant touch food items, cook etc.

That doesnt happen in Pak does it? Sanitary products are sold openly in markets, in malls or super markets they are either on the shelfs or there is a ladies section deal with theae things.

You have “na daag na dar” nonsense on national tv, showin girls happily dancing... advertising em.

Our social issues are a bit different than india.
India is a country where even they even consider toilets a curse .. “Toilet ek prem katha” again a bollywood movie...

Does that apply here in Pakistan too?

Desert being a lady I find these days very personal for every woman. These are linked to many other personal aspects of women lives so why we should be showing the world when we are bleeding? When are our fertility days? and so on. This is not about any shame but this is about one's personal life.
