Ariana Miyamoto is Miss Universe Japan 2015

.
The number of foreign nationals living in Japan has increased in recently years. In 1985, about 850,000 foreigners lived in Japan. That figure doubled to 1,700,000 in the year 2000. Over the last few years the number has been steadily growing and in 2006 there were about 2,100,000 residents with foreign nationality. Therefore the number of foreigners in Japan in 2006 was almost three times that in 1985. This is a firm indication of Japan’s increasing internationalization.

There is a large mixed Japanese product in the country, a product of the marriages between foreigners living in Japan (over 2.1 million) and with local Japanese. There are no official numbers of 'mixed Japanese' because the children of Japanese and foreigner marriages in Japan are automatically Japanese citizens by right of the Law of Jus Sanguinis. Estimates range , but as much as 150,000 to as high as 250,000 Japanese citizens who are biracial. And as foreigners continue to call Japan home, continue to move to Japan, we can only expect the number of mixed Japanese to increase in the future.

In a way, Japan is slowly becoming a 'USA' in the sens of a mix of cultures. :)

lol, i am all for race mixing, I am one and my wife is Swedish...

problem is i dont know about if they were right for beauty peagent, like why do I like Chinese, because they have a certain look, but if you put out one of those Eurasian in Northern China to represent Chinese's beauty, which, in my opinion, simply not true.

If I want to look at white girl(soundsd kinda creepy, i know) I would have gone to Russia or Sweden, that did not represent the local culture much.

lol dont know if you know what i meant?

Mixed races ... Interesting ...

I am mixed race, buddy. I am part Ainu (through my mother's side) and the other half is Japanese (through my father's side). Northern Japan, especially, has a lot of mixed race of Ainu-Japanese mix. Ainus are the aboriginal caucasian tribes of northern Japan, who lived in Japan before the arrival of the Japanese (who colonized the Japanese islands some 2500 to 3000 years ago by way of China. :)

To two men on the left are Ainu-Japanese. Notice their facial phenotype is more similar to Caucasoid than Mongoloid:

Many northern Japanese are a product of Ainu-Japanese inter-mingling. And you can see it in the facial phenotype, which is dichotomically different from pure East Asian phenotype. For example is a typical Northern Japanese with Ainu blood:

Well, racially, South Asians and modern Japanese share similar genetic chromosomes. What is predominant in the Ainu is the D2 halpogroup, which is found in most South Asians, even Central Asians. The early caucasoid theory states that the Ainu are the remnant of the early migration of humans from South Asia into present day Japan, even before the Mongoloid colonization which only started some 3,000 years ago. The Ainu have lived in Japan for over 10,000 years.

Anyways, yes, genetically speaking, Japanese are related to South Asians. :)

he is a Matsumae and yes from Sapporo. Explain me the old money thing. :D

Matsumae. :D. Yes, i know the Matsumae, that family name is of Imperial lineage, to be exact. In fact, the Daimyo of Northern Japan was the Matsumae-Han. These were the Liege Lords of Hokkaido, and were , through marriages, related to the Imperial Family.

Everyone in Sapporo or Hokkaido at that knows about the Matsumae Family.

As for the term "old money" , its a term that refers to rich families whose wealth is age old. A remnant of the old nobility, or in this case, the Daimyo. Your friend is part of the old Ruler Class in Japan. It makes sense why he retains a 'purist' mentality.

:p:

Its interesting to hear that from someone beside himself. :D

. . . .
I am sorry, she just doesn't represent the eastern concept of beauty. She can have a heart of gold but this is a beauty contest, I am sure there are more beautiful Japanese women with heart of gold...but this is....like some Chinese beauty contest made new on Sina because...people can't believe the result.

.
You're right that she doesn't have the 'traditional' beauty, but her beauty , in my opinion, is a rich mixture of Japanese and African-American. IMHO, she's gorgeous !
