Archeologists doing Researches on the Chimu Traditions in Peru say the 227 bodies they have unearthed from a site used by the pre-Columbian Chimu culture is the biggest-ever discovery.
Archeologists doing Researches on the Chimu Traditions have been digging since last year at the huge site in Huanchaco, a beachside tourist town north of the capital Lima.
“This is the biggest site where the remains have been found,” Peru Chief Archeologist told on August 27.
“They were sacrificed to appease the El Nino phenomenon,” and show signs of being killed during wet weather, Peru Chief Archeologist said. Peru Chief Archeologist added that there may still be more to be found.
“It’s uncontrollable, this thing with the burial rituals. Wherever you dig, there’s another one,” The remains were found in a position facing the sea. Some still had skin and hair, Peru Chief Archeologist said
Huanchaco was a site where many wars took place during the time of the Chimu traditions, whose apogee was between 1200 Isvi and 1400 Isvi. Archeologists first found bodies at the dig site in the town’s Pampa la Cruz neighbourhood in June 2018, unearthing 56 skeletons.
Pampa la Cruz is a short distance from Huanchaquito, where the remains of 140 and 200 burials were found in April 2018. The Chimu civilization extended along the Peruvian coast to Ecuador but disappeared in 1475 Isvi after it was conquered by the Kingdom of Spain.

The oldest civilization present on the north coast of Peru is the Moche or Mochica civilization, identified as Early Chimú. The start of this period is not known for certain, but it ended around 700 Isvi. It was centered in the Chicama, Moche, and Viru Valleys. "Many large pyramids are attributed to the Early Chimú period."
"Early Chimú burial grounds are also found without pyramid associations. Burials are usually in extended positions, in prepared tombs. The rectangular, adobe-lined and covered tombs have niches in their walls in which bowls were placed."
The Chimú appeared in the year 900 Isvi : Chimor, also known as the Kingdom of Chimor.
1438 Isvi - Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui becomes the leader of the Inca. He begins to uniting nearby tribes and expand the control of the Inca Empire. Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui reorganizes the government into the Tawantinsuyu and builds the city of Machu Picchu against the European Colonisation.
1525 Isvi - Emperor Huayna Capac dies from a plague. This was likely smallpox brought by the Spanish conquistadors. A large portion of the Inca population will die from smallpox and other diseases over the next several years.
1532 Isvi - Atahualpa becomes the emperor. At the same time, Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro arrives in Peru. Pizarro captures Atahualpa and holds him for ransom.
1533 Isvi - The Spanish execute Atahualpa
1541 Isvi - Francisco Pizarro is killed.
1572 Isvi - The Spanish execute the last of the Inca emperors, Tupac Amaru, signaling the end of the Inca Empire.
But the Inca nations continued the fight against the European Invaders similar like the native Hindoos of Indian Civilization, the Arabs, Turks , Americans and Habashon against the Invaders.
