APML’s Atiqa Odho to marry PTI founding member

KARACHI: Veteran television and film actress Atiqa Odho — who is also a key member of former president Pervez Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) — will shortly be marrying Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding member Samar Ali Khan.

According to reports, the wedding will take place in Karachi later this month, and will be attended by close friends and family members.

Samar Ali Khan — popularly known as Sammy on Karachi’s social circuit — in addition to be a founding member of Imran Khan’s PTI is also a Karachi-based architect. This is Odho’s third and Sammy’s second marriage. Family friends say that they don’t see either of the two changing their political loyalties in the near future, but there remains the chance that they will be able to influence one another.

Privately, Odho appears to be disappointed with Pervez Musharraf who failed to return to the country even after announcing a return date. Currently she is concentrating on promoting her brand of cosmetics and on social work rather than politics. Last year Odho hit headlines when Chief Justice Iftikar Chaudhry took suo motu action against her for allegedly bringing two bottles of liquor into the country on her return from a trip abroad. The case remains pending before a lower court in Rawalpindi.
