I've watched a few episodes of this drama, didn't disappoint.

When I was a young'un my old man would bring me novels
During those times I read up a novel named "Parizaad" but ofcourse now I don't remember it except for some bits

Long story short- I heard they made a drama out of this novel and it's airing

Basically it's about a man born in a very poor family, due to starvation during pregnancy he got dark skinned (I don't know how this sh*$ works seriously- but they gave the actor a black face for it) and how he lives in society, sociol mobility, struggle of a man from lower socio-economic level, international drug lord

I liked it, first 1-2 episodes can be a bit boring but hopefully afterwards it picks up (it has English subtitles)

@Sainthood 101, thanks for the tag. I watched the 11th episode and it looks quite realistic and sensible ( though maybe they should have found a non-drug-lord kind of story ) and I liked the background music too.

Am I right in saying that the drug lord is really a talk show host in real life ? I think he is the one who interviewed an ebullient Swara Bhasker when she visited Pakistan with her friend.

Also, the drug lord wore his cravat the wrong way. The cravat should cover all of the skin under the collar like this :

Nah actor is actually a legendary tv actor who also hosts some shows from time to time

B- He is supposed to be the negative character that's why he is a drug lord

This is drama is awesome. Just watched its 12th episode yesterday. Paarizad is now set to became a right hand of underworld don played by Nouman Ejaz. With all his shallow personality traits, Paarizad still manages to get attention of so many beautiful woman in the drama

Bro this drama has 5 female characters and everyone seems to be dumping this dude lol, I mean s*** c'mon writer is mad disrespectful

I have not watched a Pakistani drama since 2004. It is unfortunate what has happened to our drama. It started in the early days of the prevalence of cable TV. Actors used to master the art of dialogue delivery once. They worked on the proper way of pronunciation and so on. The cable networks of Pakistani origin internalized the Indian soap opera into Pakistani drama (Indians in turn, took inspiration from American soap operas and took the nuisance to an entirely new level). Pakistani drama recovered from that ordeal but lost its essence. I have watched a couple of dramas from the golden age of PTV on Youtube again, though. This is what used to be Pakistani drama once. I would ask millennials to watch it.

They hired an American CGI expert. The confluence of big Money and genius is where you strike gold. They did take a lot of artistic liberties which would be expected of a film picture.

Still subjects to the empire.. that is the ugly truth.
We can deny it, pretend that its not the brits.. but then looking up to arabs or turks or other fairer skinned types or try to prove fairer skin through ancestry. But it all stems from the raj that destroyed the subcontinent psychologically and socially through careful planning.

Saudis, among whom few Pakistanis seek ancestral lineage, aren't fair-skinned (and having fair skin is sought after in KSA as well, I heard the same is the case in China). To be honest, this is the case all over the GCC (the real Arabs), not just KSA. Syrians and Lebanese are exceptions who have mingled with Europeans a lot over recorded history.

I agree at the beginning of cable it might have been trash but certainly if every year couple of shows are getting views upwards of 10-7 million per episode, they can't be that bad

My female relatives do, and in passing, I get a glance here or there. I am not impressed with what I see. I am too old school, maybe.

Haven't watched any Pakistani drama since ages. I think the last one I watched was either Haqeqat or Dhuwan in early 2000s, but I read the novel "Pari Zad" years ago.
