Anxiety among Shia community members rising.

A few workmen of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) were hunched over the rubble left over from the blast on Friday that targeted a bus carrying members of the Shia community to the al-Quds rally.

The powerful explosion claimed the lives of two men and injured 11 others.

The workmen refused to comment on the blast.

“We are just here to fix the gate of our workstation that got damaged yesterday. We don’t know anything.”

It was reported that the blast was caused by a bomb planted just outside the KESC workstation. The electricity supply of Gulistan-e-Jauhar’s residents was cut off soon after. The al-Quds rally is staged by the Shia community every year on the last Friday of Ramazan in order to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause. The tradition started off in the year 1979, after Ayatollah Khomeini made it ‘Wajib’ on every Shia to attend it. It occurred peacefully until recent years, after which intolerance against the community has often been expressed by militant groups in the form of deadly attacks.

Prior to the blast on Saturday, the last time an al-Quds rally was attacked in the country was in the year 2010 in Quetta, when a suicide bomber, who was participating in the event, blew himself up, killing 56 and injuring 160.

“Ten of our injured activists were taken to the Jinnah Hospital; the ones who recovered yesterday were sent home, the others are at the Aga Khan Hospital,” said Raza Mehdi, secretary of the Imamia Student Organisation’s (ISO) Karachi Division. The ISO is the student political group, whose activists were targeted.

“None of the families of the injured men are in Karachi, so it is only us who are left to take care of our activists for now.” The treatment expenditure in the costly private sector hospital is being borne by the ISO itself.

A day before the blast, an incident in the Babusar area of Mansehra, where passengers travelling in a bus were stopped, checked for their identity cards and shot dead for belonging to the Hazara community of the Shia sect, made headlines. However the ISO does not blame any militant organisation for the attack.

“It is a conspiracy by the US and Israel… a Zionist agenda to suppress the Muslim voice of solidarity for the Palestinian cause and force our activists to vent their anger against the attack, so that they feel for their loss rather than that of the Palestinians. But we did not let Israel win.”

The student political group demands that the FIR of the blast must be registered against the US Embassy. “We will file it against the US ambassador to Pakistan.”

The present atmosphere of violence makes the Shia community, especially the student body, concerned about its safety.

“My father wanted to go out to help the injured people after the blast. I begged him not to do so, as I was scared. I don’t feel safe anymore, I fear for my loved ones,” said Sidra Rizvi, a student at the University of Karachi.

“Based on the fact that some prominent Shia scholars have been targeted in the last few days, there is a hint that Shia killings will rise in the next few days,” apprehended Narjis Fatima, another student.

One student said there was always the threat of Shia killings rising to the point, where it would threaten the community members’ everyday lives. “Like how it is with the Hazara Shias, our names might become our fear.”

Another student admitted that everyone in the city was unsafe. “But being a Shia means there is a death warrant out for you.”

It is bound to happen.

First it was Christians, Sikhs and Hindus.

Then it was about Ahmedis.

Now when the people of other faiths/sects are reducing in number steadily, the pure predators have turned their lust for blood upon fellow Muslims.

...and this won't stop here.

After Shias they will find some other community/sect etc. to satiate their thirst for blood.

After Shias they might Target Sufis and Sunnis who belong to no-Wahabi school of thought.

It is time for Pakistan to wake up to the reality of Sectarianism being stoked by Indian Raw in Pakistan.

As the Bible says " A house divided shall not stand ".

We have to fight these evil people killing our Shia brothers and sisters.

Which militants group is funded by RAW. :cheesy: Because Pakistanis themselves acknowledges that those militants get money from Gulf countries.

Well, the chickens are coming home to roost.

It is easy to start the extremism, difficult to contain it.

Unfortunately, this is already happening......

(1) Attacks on Sufi Muslims during Urs (Saint's Death Anniversary) Mela

(2) Attacks on Barelvi Muslims during Mawlid (Prophet's Birthday) Processions.

(3) Attacks on Aga Khanis during the Nizari (Living) Imam's Accession-day celebrations.

Until our society's radical clergy are brought under firm control, this will never stop. These radical clergymen are like mad dogs on steroids, it is difficult to reason with them....

Do I have to type this like 6 times?

We Shias are doing fine in Pakistan. We have top spots in our government. Same cannot be said about Indian Muslims. I'd rather be a Pakistani Shia than a Indian Muslim.

Half-hearted measures will never solve this problem. Fact is, a section of your military/establishment/society see these 'dogs' as strategic assets.

As long as this viewpoint persists, there's little hope for Pakistan.

As a Sufi Sunni Muslim i say this is job of foreign enemies of Pakistan who want chaos in Pakistan.

Death to terrorists.
