Anti-terrorism court confiscates mayor Karachi’s passport

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court confiscated the passport of Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar on Saturday.

The ATC was hearing a case pertaining to providing treatment to terrorists and had summoned the mayor of the city in this regard.

During the hearing, the ATC judge reprimanded Waseem Akhtar, saying that despite being the mayor of the city he did nothing for it.

The court, in its remarks, said that the passport was given to the mayor for official visits and if he is not using it anymore then he should hand it over.

The court then took into custody the passport from the mayor Karachi.

I am not allowed to reply to that because to do so I would be open to charges of "rah shist". Nobody can question, analayse, be critical of Ganga by the Sea.

The petitioner had nominated former President General (r) Pervez Musharraf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-London) founder Altaf Hussain, the former interior minister, and then-then Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar in his petition.


Petitioner claimed that MQM wreaked havoc in Karachi on the directives of General (r) Musharraf to prevent former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry from arriving into the city and addressing legal fraternity.


More than 50 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured in Karachi when miscreants attacked people going to the airport to receive the then-deposed chief justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi ahead of a lawyers’ gathering.

What is the significance of confiscation of passport by this 'spineless, crawling and handicapped system of justice'?
These criminals have other options open; Gulalai now in USA, reports are she didn't travelled on passport.
Apart from minor crimes, law should be amended to 'NO BAIL FOR MAJOR CRIMES'; but alas these so called criminals are 'LAW MAKERS'.

Prime Minister Imran Khan , gave Sindh 7.5 Billion Dollars budget for 2019-2020

So that is close to a 2.5 Billion funding for Karachi from above funding

b) Political Seat winners in Karachi
c) Sindh Government for release of Funds & Support
d) Supre Court of Pakistan Ensures the Duties of Mayor include power to select contractors and distribution of funds and salaries

This guys whole family's passports should be cancelled so that they can't fly to US and apply for asylum.
