NEW DELHI, AUG 21:
The Finance Ministry has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on certain "textured toughened (tempered) glass" imports from China.

"Textured toughened (tempered) glass" is used as a component in solar photovoltaic panels and solar thermal applications.

This product is also known as solar glass, low iron solar glass or high transmission photovoltaic glass.

Gujarat Borosil Ltd, the sole producer of tempered glass in the country, had filed the petition seeking anti-dumping probe on 'textured toughened (tempered) glass' imports from China.

Based on the recommendations of the designated authority in its final findings, the revenue department has imposed anti-dumping duty ranging from $52.85 per tonne to $136.21 per tonne, depending on the producer and exporter from China.

Looks like Indian supplies have caught up with Chinese in this regards... No point importing something that your indigenous manufacturers can produce at a reasonable cost... Chinese product are cheaper due to export subsidies given to Chinese exporters by Chinese government. Good work by GOI

This is just the tip of an iceberg. Indians are slowly rising upto boycotting chinese products within India. And once it gets ample amount of media coverage, the process will replicate in Eurasia and Americas.

In the meanwhile India should establish itself where it can fulfill the demands of these nations with quality products in the meanwhile.

As I said in the Earlier Post

If we stop import from China it will help local manufacturers to spread their business across India so it will benefit Indian's stopping import from China will hurt Indian economy for few years but it will be good for Long-term

Indian Manufacturers are struggling to compete with China low cost this kind of activity will help to gain local manufacturers

I am expecting more from Modi to stop import from china

India is going to turn a lot of screws on China.
It won't hurt in the short run but wait for a year or two & see what this movement will snowball into.

Modi is a great orator who can sway a lot of people to his way of thinking. Slowly and surely he has started to turn his sights to taking down China a peg or two.

Government has taken a very good stand on this. They are not officially banning the chinese products but fueling and educating the public to not to use them. :bounce:

China cannot complain if people stop buying chinese products altogether. Demand for Indian products will gradually increase improving the industry
