I was surprised at how soon after winning the elections Nawaz Sharif's stance changed altogether. What about Shahbaz Shairf's Ali baba chalis chor rants? Obviously i suspected that they won't have the guts to take any risky decisions or even non risky ones for that matter but it was all too soon. If i remember correctly PPP was criticised by these leaders for not having the backbone to stop the drones and now they utter the same rehearsed dialogues that their PPP counterparts used to.

PTI evolves new strategy to block NATO supply

On 19 November,2013



The PTI would block NATO supply at three points in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on November 23.



PESHAWAR (Dunya News): According to the party sources, PTI chairman Imran Khan would address a major public gathering at Peshawar’s Ring Road on 23rd November, which would also be addressed by Sheikh Rashid and other senior leaders.


It has been announced that immediately after the end of gathering, party activists and other participants would proceed to block NATO supplies from the destined points by special groups formed for the purpose.


In the first phase, the supplies would be blocked at Ring Road junction’s 3 points, to be followed by another such blockade at Pak-Afghan border.



Nearly 50,000 people are expected to participate in the rallies while all necessary security measures were being taken in this regard, the sources added.

Mazari voiced concerns regarding Sartaj Aziz's assurances of halting drones on behalf of US
Central Information Secretary PTI, Shireen Mazari, today questioned the credibility of the statement made by PMLN adviser on Foreign Affairs to the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee that the US had given an assurance that there would be no drone attacks during Pakistan government's talks with the Taliban. She raised the following objection which made Sartaj Aziz's claims totally non-credible and therefore meaningless:
"The APC had mandated the government to stop all drone attacks not bargain for a short break in these attacks. Even one drone attack was not only an infringement on Pakistan's sovereignty but a war crime as stated in the April 2013 Peshawar High Court judgement and in international reports. So PTI rejects any limited compromises in relation to ending of drone attacks."
Mazari also voiced further concerns regarding Sartaj Aziz's assurances on behalf of the US:
One: if the US was serious about its limited commitment, then the statement to that effect should have come from the US side officially so that the exact nature of the commitment would be clear with no room for deniability.
Two: if the US was to make such a commitment, would that mean the drone attacks would continue until government talks with the Taliban commenced?
Mazari demanded the government take a clear and resolute position on drone attacks in accordance with the APC resolution and keeping the Peshawar High Court decision in mind, instead of trying to justify the US position which is contrary to the mandate of the APC
