A very, very brave and experienced EOD technician, this is a great loss to law enforcement and BDS in KPK. إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

Provincial police should ensure that BDS are provided with at least relevant PPE: including minimum B3 vehicle "Muhafiz", with GSM Jammer, EOD 9 Bomb Tech Suit, EIC and PBI kits that actually work, things like search equipment: Cable Detectors, Mine probe, Explosives detector (Vapor), portable x-ray, listening device(electronic steth), snake eye inspection camera for key hole entry and disposal equipment to neutralize the threat: mechanical and manual remote rigging tools, wheelbarrow EOD robotics, agitators, perpetrators, disruptions.

THE EOD9 Bomb Tech suit needs to be the "minimum" PPE for all BDS personnel:

BDS staff actually doing the work in the field should be sent for advanced EOD course at CTP Police Lines, PTS Sihallah and Lahore EPTS. (THIS training should not just be reserved for personal favorites, that will be transferred to useless posts like reader of SSP HQ or Gunman for IG Sahib).#

Officers should increase the BPS grade and pay-scale of BDS officers to meet the minimum for H&MP, danger money should be increased and all officers not just BDS serving Hi-Risk duties, including check post attendants should be insured by the government of Pakistan.

Furthermore BDS and CRT/SSW should use an alternative method for communication vs CB radio. Because all of Pakistani Police is on the Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA), which is easy to listen into using a commercial scanner that can be purchased for 15,000 rupees.

A terrorist could easily purchase this scanner, create a fake "callout" monitor the route of the BDS ( this is called a dry run), then they will repeat the same process but with live device.

Using military munitions to increase the potency and devastation of the IED is common practice among AQN trained terrorists and is widely used in Pakistan:
