The driver said a white car having no number plate struck his vehicle on the Canal Road near New Campus. He lamented that he made a rescue call on 15 but the police didn’t reach the scene.

The sources said the PTI leader’s vehicle was damaged in the accident, but the driver and another person travelling in the car remained unhurt.

Earlier, on May 5, Shahbaz Gill was injured in a road mishap on M-9 Motorway near the Khanqah Dogran interchange, Sheikhupura.

The PTI leader was travelling from Lahore to Islamabad when the accident occurred. Gill alleged that the incident was an attempt to murder him and occurred when a speeding vehicle struck his car from the rear side.

Widening road only worsens traffic 🤦‍♂️
They don't know traffic management... If a road is widened, but if upward traffic flux is low, then donward road would just fill up. So, it will be like a 'wide parking place'.. Like coke bottle or 2 litre bottle. Same opening doesn't care how much wide area is beneath it.

Instead of putting another lane of traffic, had they buried a subway/metro line under the canal, it would have reduced the number of cars on it and increased mobility.

That would be costly plus I am more worried about the management and maintenance (water seepage). Even if China/UK/France has helped us to build, it is upon us to maintain. Plus, public can littre it with rubbish.

WIth AI and ML, tubes/subways/metros etc are totally awesome. I used to travel on it.. totally autonomous. It has rubber tyres on patterned tracks. Nearly zero vibration unlike metal on metal wheel-track system. @Solidify
