Not sure which documentary it was but it made sense that most DAM infrastructure in USA has never been maintained it is just in very bad shape

When you build a house, do you build it so you can replace within a few yrs? No, you build it so it can last for as long as possible. It could be a house, a dam, or a rail system. These things were built based upon the technologies available to their times of construction.

Technologically, if we start 'technology' as by the Industrial Revolution, then the US is practically the oldest country in the world. From that point, if a country is more technologically ahead of US, it is because that country learned from our mistakes and took appropriate actions to avoid those mistakes. So after all these yrs, of course some countries would be more adept at US at using certain technologies.

The base technologies are important here. If your house has a talking refrigerator and my house has a regular version, does that mean your house is more 'advanced' than mine? Not really. The base foundation of the refrigerator is still the same. Maybe I do not want a smart talking refrigerator. But whether the appliance is 'smart' or not, both of us can still keep food cold, thereby making food last longer, thereby improving the quality of life. We are not comparing the indoor toilet with the outhouse.

I don't understand, what is actually going on inside the USA company management, as well as working attitude of the people in USA that makes the incident to be happened.

Everything about USA companies once was recognized as reliable and trustworthy.

Because nobody uses trains anymore (~30 million compared to ~750 million using domestic airline routes) the government took over all the train lines 50 years ago (Amtrak) because it wasn’t profitable anymore for the private sector. It now just funds it enough to keep it alive.

There just isn’t that much interest in trains anymore. Even if you put in new stations and higher speeds it still may not generate interest. People are so used to non-stop flights to wherever they want to go (42,000 flights/day with 5000+ planes being in the air at any given moment) that being on a train with stops is considered a backwards hassle.

A high percentage of people in the US have never been on an Amtrak train in their entire lives...but a high percentage have flown.
