Found this interesting video ... This is a young lady from the U.S reacting to "Afreen Afreen " performed by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Mommina Mustehsan in season 9 ... Check it out ..

You'll definitely enjoy it ( P.S she mentions that she's actually studied music and is a little bit of a vocalist herself, so .. it's rather interesting to see someone how we fare up with people whose usual music consists of American pop, rock and metal etc.

Not in the mood to be harsh, but lets see ... What's important in this is that your art is being exposed to the rest of the world ... ultimately leading to a positive perception in the mind of that particular person exposed to such art form ..

We as a country don't have a "specialization" for which we can say "Hey! We are Pakistanis and we're known for this positive thing/contribution in the world" ... Tourism has potential, yes but you can't truly exploit that completely unless things completely settle. Other then that we have our cultures, food, etc. however a major challenge is even if a food is "Pakistani" per say .. foreigners usually call it Indian food because people exposed to less are most likely to associate anything spicy and subcontinental looking with India rather then us or Bangladeshi.

So what is the one thing that can define us in a positive light .. something unique to us and easily accessible to the world. Our music, especially the whole sufi/folk music of ours is off the charts. More or less everybody listens to music and has specific tastes however listening to the same kind of stuff over and over again has us looking for change. That is why you have the Americans turning to K-POP (Korean pop music) ... these groups from Korea literally dominate in terms of the value they have in their videos, dancing, beats etc.As such with our art form we can fill that gap too and coke studio is a good platform for that purpose. People listening and positively reacting to it is a good omen I guess which is why I posted it ...

So what we need to do is promote our thing in the world so that we're associated with some positive aspects as well, rather then the whole stereotype a typical Pakistani has (and I don't need to tell you what that is) ...

Still way better? They didn't even sing it well. Original is like perfect.

Coke version have good clarity, original is old and probably was recorded from radio so music is not very clear and has static in it...and no one can copy Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's vocals so comparrision with Rahat is unfair to Rahat.
