LAHORE: Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) president and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has strongly condemned the custodial killing of a Pakistani youth, Amir Cheema, by the German police.

In a statement issued Sunday, Qazi said that Amir proved his love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) by taking part in the protest to condemn the publication of blasphemous cartoons by European countries, adding that a true Muslim could never commit suicide.

He demanded the government lodge a strong protest against Amir’s murder.

JI to observe Karachi Martyrs Day on May 12: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan will observe countrywide ‘Karachi Martyrs Day’ on May 12 to condemn alleged terrorism by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Karachi and other cities.

The day is being observed to commemorate the death anniversary of 12 JI workers who were allegedly killed by MQM during by-elections in Karachi two years ago. JI Secretary General Syed Munawar Hassan said this in a statement issued Sunday. Munawar said that religious parties’ workers were being kidnapped and murdered in the dens situated in high-security zones of Karachi.

He alleged the terrorists were being protected by the Sindh governor and interior minister.

He said that a white-paper about the gory details of fascism perpetrated by the MQM would be published and distributed in the country’s every nook and corner. He feared that MQM’s network of terrorism could spread in other parts of the country after the announcement that it would take part in the elections from all over Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. He appealed to people to take part in the May 12 rallies.
