Amid warming ties with Muslim world, observers see Bangladesh as potential partner for Israel

.
Possible given the increase in secular muslim Bangladeshis and their non-muslim counterparts focused on economics and copycat Indian geopolitical decisions. There will be heavy backlash but it could be suppressed with coercion in a few months.

Bangladesh has a very independent foreign policy when it comes to their internal affairs. The have ties with both sides of all conflicts around the world except Israel-Gaza/West Bank conflict. Unlikely that they would copy us. There is little geopolitical interest that Bangladesh can offer Israel. At best, this could lead to strong business ties between the business communities of the two countries, IF they normalized ties. But once Haseena government is out, it will most likely be replaced by a more conservative religious government that could potentially be looking at hardening their sights on a lot of things, including Israel.

Majority of the ASEAN countries have robust ties with Israel. Indonesia being probably the most moderate muslim-majority country will also normalize the ties soon.

I will respectfully disagree with the notion that Bangladesh apes Indian geopolitical decisions. The differences are increasingly obvious as economical situation gets better in Bangladesh.

Even Bangladeshi AL ministers are increasingly vocal against Indian govt. decisions and utterings of Hindutva stalwarts about Bangladesh.

Word on the street is - Hefazat is just ready to ignite like a tinderbox, given the right pretext. They have immense grassroots support.

Grassroots support among general populace for Palestinian cause is even more widespread, which includes secular liberals as well. Just like in the EU.

Hasina has so far placated Hefazatis with offering them a few peace offerings, but turning backs on Palestinians is non-negotiable. She does not want to touch that issue.

In a current precarious situation, muddying the waters further is the last thing Hasina needs...
