Yeah, that "entire American road" was in some low traffic sparsely populated area surrounded by trees. It's not like it was some main boulevard (like the video I posted) or highway.

Transportation with vacuum tubes has been talked about since probably before the 1820's. Lots of talking and no doing. It's not going to replace many roads in the near future.

Well you do need authoritarians to implement some things that entail kicking people off property that their family has owned for generations. That's not easy to do in many societies. So the Autobahn success gave Eisenhower free rein to kick people off their property here.

Well whatever the case I'm sure if there was a big Mosque in the path of a projected highway in Iran it would take a really powerful figurehead to get it torn down.
